How far would you travel each day for work before relocating?

Add an hour of commuting each way to your 9-5 and suddenly you are working a 10 hour day and are probably spending hundreds for the privilege. Fortunately I live a 10 minute walk from work.

most il do now is an hour each way, iv done 1.5 hours (which generaly ended up being 2) and il never do it again unless the money and job are both worth it, i know too many people working for less than 20k and travel 2 hours each way, god knows what they are thinking.

I've not had a long commute before (longest was 30 mins train each way), but at a guess I wouldn't want to do more than an hour.

Hour max, even that would be hard to go back to. Commuting is such a waste of time. Thankfully home start these days. Saves so much time when commuting is part of the working day.

I do 30mins everyday, but then I use a work vehicle. Wouldn't like to need to travel and have to pay for it mind.

I'm currently about half an hour / forty minutes each way. I'm working shifts so I'm not really hitting the M8 at peak times. I wouldn't consider spending any more time than that commuting - I'd be looking for a job closer to home before travelling any further.

I did 6 years of a 2hr train journey there and 2hrs back at least 6 days a week. Was it worth it - probably not. Didn't really comprehend how tired I was until I stopped and thought wow I feel good! Therefore, with hindsight - not my greatest of decisions.

1/2 hour's normal drive. Not interested in spending my time sat in traffic to and from work so wouldn't do much more than that.

Use to do Plymouth>Bodmin (26 miles) 5 days a week. Company supplied mini-bus so it was slowwww going. Wsn't bad in the morning because I was the last pick up, but in the eveing I was the last drop off so could take up to an hour. Getting a lift it took 20-30mins depending who was driving. One guy only dropped below 100 for traffic and police.

Last few jobs have been:

30mins by bus (city centre to outskirts of city)
20-25min walk from my house to dockyard gates (2+ miles)

Wouldn't do more then an hour each way.

Used to have about a 45 minute-ish commute when doing a normal 9-5 type job which was fine.

Nowadays I tend to do one big commute over 2 days (travel up one day and back the next) but with the rest of the week at home.

I've done 2 hours before now, Cambridge to London (West End).

That was probably just a bit too much. My current commute it 70 mins or 80 mins depending on which office I go to.

For me, as long as there was just ONE means of transport I'd be happy for anything up to 2 hours. And It's got to be short walk -> a train -> short walk -> office... I can't deal with walk -> bus -> train -> tube -> walk.

I do 25 miles each way in the car, mostly motorway. Takes between 30-45 mins but its not so bad cause I can browse the net on my phone.

Probably about 30-40 minutes, strictly no traffic jams- so walking, cycling, public transport or driving without rush hour traffic.

I have a nice 15 minute walk long a river side and through a nature reserve, some times feel it could be a longer walk so I get more exercise.

Anything longer thn 30 minutes and the time would have to be taken from work, while still being paid for that time.

I travel 35mins by car or 25mins by cycle - I wouldn't travel anyfurther than that.

Also, if work moved, I wouldn't up sticks and relocate - I'd take redundancy and get another job - or more than likely be a house husband :-)
