How fast is the internet on your work computer?

Can only imagine you're on borrowed IP space and any copyright infringements notices are reaching the underlying ISP and being forwarded on, as they certainly won't be monitoring the traffic themselves.

I thought the same. We have a leased line with Easynet and Virgin and neither have sent any comms about my incessant downloading of *ahem* Linux ISO's.

I don't think any ISP on earth is going to complain about someone downloading linux ISOs...:p (Or do you mean that as "I'm saying linux ISOs, i really mean the other thing" ;) )
 
Just done a random test from one of our Network terminal servers in one of the DC's, probably not the biggest pipe out to the internet I could find, and bearing in mind there is traffic going over what ever link this goes out of that is probably throttled at the moment.



Last Result:
Download Speed: 108511 kbps (13563.9 KB/sec ) / 13.5639 MB / s
Upload Speed: 196008 kbps (24501 KB/sec ) / 24.50100 MB / s


On another random term server I jumped on to, going through a differnet link, upload similar to above but download a little better than the above link



Down: 16.4564 MB / s

we take a trunk from the local university who has 20gbps

can't wait for the next janet upgrade as we will get even faster speeds

considering we have just had a network refresh of all the switches, the download speeds are crazy fast...so much so, that it's quicker to download iso files than take them off one of our file servers (its a slow server though)

speedtest rates my download around the 800 mark

Wow, very jealous with some of these speeds! We have shockingly bad broadband here.

Up 15.12Mbps
Down 0.74Mbps

Considering we're on a £70/month business broadband contract! Apart from a leased line that's the best you can get as a business here.
