How fast is your Photoshop ?

People need to include the version of Photoshop they are running; this is not supposed to be a hardware test ;)

Just tried this on an aging AMD Athlong XP 2100+ with 512MB of RAM, which to be honest isn't running very well at the moment, using Photoshop 5.5.....

A dizzying... 3mins 58!!!

LOL, it's good this computer, so glad it's what I have to use for work everyday!!!

I'm not annoyed that the person in my office who moaned everyday about her computer has been given an upgrade to a brand spanking new Dual Core something or other.... when the only programs she uses are Word, IE and an Access Database!!!

opps at first i thought 45 seconds, having changed it to 100, its was 3 minutes :D

Did OK at this considering..

51 seconds with:

CS2 Version 9.
P4 3.2 Prescott @ 3.6
1 Gig BH5 @ 2-2-2-6
6800 Ultra
Crappy HD (in desperate need of a format).

I'll have a go at this later on the macros at uni. They were supposedly the most expensive processor+memory combo available, whatever that might be (used for sound, image and video editing).

40 seconds, with F@H running in the background.

AMD X2 3800+ (at stock at the moment - 2 GHz)
2 Gb Corsair XMS
X1900-XT 512 Mb

Using PS CS2

Quite pleased with that really. Definitely puts into perspective the real-world benefits of C2D chips - around 5-10 secs.

1:55 - AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (Socket 939, Venice) / 2GB Memory / Photoshop CS2

I really.. really, need to format it's been running slow for a while. But this machine does have lots of other things on it; TV Card software etc so it probably wasn't idle at the time.

Hey! my software installation (3 day old windows install :p) is no saint either! I too have winfast DTV scheduler running in the BG along with many other stuff :p

I don't think any of that uses any cpu at all really, they just lay idle until their time comes.

CS2

17" MacBook Pro, Intel Core Duo 2.16GHz, 2GB RAM, OS X (10.4.8)

test 1: (Parallels VM 512MB RAM. WinXP Pro): 1:21
test 2: Rosetta: 0:54

PowerMac G5 Dual 2GHz, 2GB RAM, OS X (10.4.8)

test 3: Native PPC: 0:47 (not bad for a 3 year old computer)

The Core Duo obviously kicks arse. :D

Although I have always found that the redraw performance in CS2 is much slower than that of CS, 7, 6 etc.
