How have we changed from 1995/x?

Lol! Only one song I liked and it was because I was in art class.

Scary, the memories are all coming back.

I was nearly 30 in 95 :(

I WAS 30 in '95! I was very happy back then, it certainly felt like a much simpler time than now.
I love the advances that have been made in technology, and spend far too much time on the internet, but why do I feel like I have to carry a mobile phone everywhere, and actually feel very uncomfortable when I forget it...

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be man.

But seriously, throughout time we live without the hardships of yesterday to live with the hardships of today. I'd like to have lived in the 1970's for many reasons, not because I think it was a better era when everyone in the street did conga lines at the sight of a milkman, but because I prefer the culture of that era - the punk movement, the clothes, the attitudes, the music.

But on your original point, is technology making us more antisocial? I'd say it's changing the dynamics of relationships but I don't think talking to someone online is any less social than making a phonecall, I prefer a phonecall but that's just a case of personal preference and I see no need to be elitist.

Are we really that different to people in 1995?
I don't think so, technology has changed, maybe a few other things yeah but this system is still a mess and getting worse, once you scrape away the shiny silver lining on most things you expose the rot underneath it all.

Your life might well be that superficial, but that doesn't imply everyone's is.

pfft 90s was awesome.

no cctv
no shutters on shops
no police style separator grills in taxi's
police had slow response times and most of them were unfit
most people still got paid in cash
low number of digital transactions = people carried a lot of cash
cops didn't have guns
few places had sleeping policeman
most paths didn't have bollards
not much government spying
saturday morning tv used to be pretty good

vs now

cops have guns
cops are more organised and faster at responding
everywhere has CCTV
everywhere has shutters
everywhere has speed bumps
non many people carry cash
people get paid electronically
everywhere has bollards
government spies on everything
politicians are more corrupt
saturday morning tv is now crap

Are you a criminal or something?

1995 was great. Was at uni, the playstation was released (probably helping contribute to me flunking out of uni). Didn't know anyone with a mullet. And grunge was at its peak. I couldn't cope with being a teenager today, where to wear the wrong brand of clothes results in the **** being taken over social media, so even a brunch of trolls you have never met can join in making your life miserable. And all of them act as if their actions should have no repercussions. Which is probably true as I'm not allowed to punch the annoy little ****s when they are getting gobby or trashing my fence.

However on the plus side, I now have a house, a good job, a lovely wife, and the PS4 is coming out soon. Just need to sort out the music.

What I enjoyed most about the 90's, aside from all the obvious since I was in my early 20's, and not really settled as in a long term relationship, and making the absolute most out of it, knowing that my latter yrs, I would be settled as I am now.

Really aside from the above, the best part was not having SMART PHONES !!! where work would be emailing and calling you out of hrs hassling you, like its the norm. Now I wish i never had a smart phone, where I'm reading work emails on a weekend. I do my best not too, but it really can't be helped. We now work 24/7 and can't get away from it.
