How I kept calm I'm not sure...

Well done drz on not taking the bait from the ctr

If that happened to me I'd hope I'd react in the same way

i see your point but its always more fun if you can get in front because at that point you're in controle, if they try and over take you can then move over to stop them in their tracks, this really ****s them off :D

Your standards of driving, if they are as your claim, are as shockingly poor as the guy featured in the video I posted.

Moving over to block someone that tries to overtake you, regardless of any "previous", is so massively retarded I'm struggling to know how to respond to you.

Seriously Ross. Using your Full Beams and Low Beams whilst driving is perfectly normal. Any decent driver finds it easy and second nature

and Mickie you sound like a Grade A tard who shouldn't be allowed on the road. It's not a playground

Unfortunately it's not second nature for many of the drivers I come across on the roads. Lost count the amount of times I have been dazzled

i wouldnt take everything you read on the internet seriously DRZ

So then why are you in my thread posting made up crap? There is a topic, either your posts are relevant to the thread or they aren't. This isn't a storytelling thread.

I actually think you probably just realised that you drive like a massive ******* and are now looking for a way out.

no honestly, im not looking for a way out, believe what you want, call me what you want, i dont know you or anyone on this forum, i honestly dont care what people think..

this thread has gone to the pits

High Beam, when suitable, ALWAYS.

The effectiveness of dipped beams decreases as speed increases. They are good for about 40MPH 'safely' (As in, suitable illuminated stopping distance)

Choosing NOT to use main beam when suitable is effectively reducing your stopping distance as you cannot slow down for what you cannot see.

As for the argument about main beam reducing dipped illumination, well:

1 - It should not affect your dipped illumination

and

2 - At greater speed your forward vision should be increased also, you want to be looking where main beam can illuminate far more effectively

Only a muppet would not use main beams when suitable. Out of those muppets the ones who justify it on "knowing the road" are ignorants also.

|Indeed. DRZ did very well to let the moron continue about his business. Shame there are tools like that on the road, unfortunately, it's illegal to pull them out of the car and beat them to a pulp.

That CTR driver was a bit of a tool to put it mildly, DRZ did the right thing bugging out of that imo....

No my headlights are suitable enough. I only find myself ever needing high beams when I don't know a road very well.

If you'd ever driven at night, in something like this, with this light setup, you suddenly reason how laughable that sounds! ;)

Rossk26 !highbeams theory makes perfect sense if:-

i) You have a private road with your own key to open the gate at one end and you lock the gate immediately behind you, with no side roads attached to it and your house at the end of it. No one else lives in the house or has access to the gate key.

ii) There is an electrified 15m high fence either side of the road to keep away any animals from crossing the road.

iii) You are learning to drive said road eventually with a patched eye or blindfold.

iv) It never ever rains.

I just hope that when that guy totals himself he doesn't impact any other road users at the same time. To the posters saying this is a "waaa, my car isn't fast enough" thread, then a) look at what the OP drives, and b) actually look at the highway code for once!

Being overtaken. If a driver is trying to overtake you, maintain a steady course and speed, slowing down if necessary to let the vehicle pass. Never obstruct drivers who wish to pass. Speeding up or driving unpredictably while someone is overtaking you is dangerous. Drop back to maintain a two-second gap if someone overtakes and pulls into the gap in front of you.

In terms of Main Beam use, I'm with the majority of people in this thread in so much that I'll use them whenever safe to do so if they will benefit my visibility, that's what they're there for! Since the advice on using headlights is when visibility is under 100m (at any time), then for me this reinforces the reasons to use main beam when possible, since my dipped headlights sure don't light up 100m in clear conditions at night!

Anyways, well played OP, don't see what else you could have done in the situation to be honest.
