How I kept calm I'm not sure...

Lets all salute Captain Logic

If you maintain a constant speed, then the overtaking car will be able to get past. If a situation occurs that means the overtaking car might not make it in time, then accelerating is absolutely the worst thing you can do and only the worst kind of cretin would do this. Actually, that's not quite right, the absolute worst kind of cretin would do this and then try to justify it in the name of safety.

He's either trying to be funny (and failing) or a complete and utter psycho.

If he drives a Type-R it's defo the latter...

like that

that Civic forum thread is shocking... More so than this thread. :(

Jebus, tell me about it!

If it had been the other way around, and the CTR had gone to make a perfectly acceptable and safe overtake and the MX5 had floored it and then gone around a bend on the wrong side at high speed, they would have been up in arms on CTRO.

From a totally impartial point of view, the OP was not to blame in any way and should be congratulated for keeping so cool (i'm sure i wouldn't have). The CTR driver should have his licence taken away for being such a grade A moron.

I mean, how people can think that it is the OP's fault or "50/50 blame" is beggars belief!

I liked the guy on their forums trying to justify it by saying that the CTR driver was doing the safe thing by accelerating to prevent a dangerous overtake. Missing the point entirely that the overtake would have been perfectly safe if it wasn't for Honda Pride, yo.

There are no words.

I personally find my main headlights are suitable and no need to blast my high beams (on roads I know well, including country lanes).

So I'd rather have full concentration on control of the steering wheel rather than flicking the high beam stalk every 2 seconds.

Thanks

You sir are obviously a selfish driver, it is obvious that you also never indicate as this would also mean you don't have "full control" of the steering wheel.

I very much hope I do not breakdown in my car on a back road near you as chances are you won't see me, if you manage to see me and my car then the poor cars behind you may not as you have not lit the road up for them...as I said selfish.

To be fair there does seem to be a lot of people in that other thread being totally sensible and siding with DRZ, it's just a shame that there's also a load of cretins who think it's funny. Seems a bit harsh to label all the Type-R owners as knuckle dragging morons?

Of course. Good to vent though! ;) :p

The marque is attracting the wrong crowd though.

why is it whenever I see this kinda thing I hear this song in my head?
##Hey man you know, I'm really ok.....##

Was that car really a ctr? Looked like a range rover to me lol. This happened to me a few times too. If you are going to drive under the speed limit then be prepared for people to overtake you.

Something similar happened to me last night, i'm driving along this road in Hitchin following a bus, the bus starts to pull into the bus stop (exactly like the google maps photo actually) but hangs out slightly. As I try to move slightly right to go around the bus some moron in an Audi A4 estate tried over taking me. I don't know how he thought he was going to pull this off as there wasn't enough room and there's an island coming up. He had to break hard and then proceeded to beep me like it was my fault lol

I'm blue he's red.
