How long do you keep Boxes and Packaging?

For as long as the warranty or until I clear it out.
I sometimes wonder if I've just created a whole heap of kindling in my loft should we have a fire...

Until RMA or guarantee time is up usually on pc stuff, or if I think it has any resale value.

Right now my outbuilding is full of boxes from moving last year that I haven't been bothered to sort.

I keep the TV boxes always to help with moving.

PC parts and electronics I will keep the packaging until I resell the item. People tend to pay a little extra for something with original packaging. Things like kettles and toasters I keep for 2-3 months then recycle the packaging.

I'll keep the box of anything that's electrical and of value that could be sold at a later date. Everything else gets put in the recycling every two weeks.

Exactly that. I'm sure that I've sold items in the past at a higher value by virtue of having the original box. I have the big box my PC case came in and in there I have the boxes for the motherboard etc. I want to keep that PC box for when I sell the case, so it doesn't take up any more room than it would do otherwise. Other electronics, maybe not so much but I don't tend to want to resell them.

If it's something I'm likely to resell, the boxes get put in the loft. Everything else gets scrapped right away.

Got a load of collectable figures where up to 1/3 of the value can be in the box/packaging when it comes to selling on. Some people have so many figures that they rent a storage unit to put the empty boxes in. I won't be doing that!

I still have two never used motherboards in my cupboard from when i'm messed something up but got fixed before replacements arrived and needed.
First time on my core2duo system I dropped a thumb screw onto the motherboard and fried a chip, forget why I was doing this and being lazy at the time,
So I sent it back to Gigabyte for repair which cost £20, Before I had thought about emailing them just on the of chance that they would entertain a 3 year old board I bought an Asus replacement.
I install the Asus board but it was a total PITA to get stable, one day I left it on while I went to work (slow dl speeds at the time) and when I came back the board was dead, So I email the shop and got a replacement for the Asus board, but while waiting for that to come back the gigabyte board came back
So the replacement Asus board has never been used.

2nd time was when getting into watercooling and my res spat some fluid onto the bottom right connectors and shorted the system, The GF offered to buy me a new one for my bday, but I wanted the same board and as it was so old I had to buy it from a random shop in Germany lol, By the time it had arrived the board
had dried out and ended up turning it self on at random so that board has never been opened or used.

TLDR: I'm bored

Exactly this except for kettle packaging/etc. where mine will go in the recycling almost immediately.

Always get rid of it straight away, regardless of the product. No real value in keeping them IME.

I'd always pay more for something with the original packaging than without.

But with that said I'd love to feel comfortable throwing away the boxes and caring less about the resale value.

Yeah, I generally don't resell stuff so not a big issue for me.

How long do you keep Boxes and Packaging on items you've bought, Am i right in thinking that you're not obliged to save them for warranty?

Until I sell them. My other half hates the fact I do this but then appreciates all the extra money she gets when selling stuff which are 100% complete in the original box. The loft is full of them

I kept the one for the TV, I learned that lesson after having to send the previous one back without the box after it died. Try finding something a TV will fit in...

I keep them as long as I have the thing that came in them, usually the boxes become boxception with boxes within boxes, sometimes they get used for putting actual stuff in though

I hang on to GPU boxes as they possibly help with value shiny picture and all and they at least offer some protection with shipping when selling on, everything else goes in the recycling as soon as

I keep boxes for years and its handy when I resell but I actually think the value gained by the box is so minimal that the space is probably worth more to me.

I think it must be a techie/man thing.

I hate throwing boxes away. Even though I know I wont use them again but for some reason I feel like I have to keep them. Boxes are currently a hot topic in my house at the moment as I want to keep them all and my partner wants to throw them away
