I thought I'd try disabling the floppy drive support from my BIOS before I did this and seemed to help shave some time off the boot up because I'm sure when I timed it before (with my mobile) it was something like 1:20.

Still 1 minute is fine for me to wait, plenty of time to put the kettle on before hand!

About 45 seconds with vertex 2e SSD including password entry to desktop. Another 15 seconds on top for the router to fully initialise and login to firefox, So about a minute which is fast enough for anyone.

Works network is between 3 and 5 minutes due to all the security features and shares.

get rid of iTunesHelper via msconfig. All it does is detect that an iDevice has been plugged in and then auto run iTunes.
