How long does it usually take for dell to send you your laptop order?
If i order one during this week when can i expect to recieve it?

cheers

Usually around 2 weeks max if you change the config, however it can vary a lot. Dell Outlet is usually in days for reference.

Around 2 weeks as hey are built to order. Custom ones are at the high end of 2 weeks. Mine took 2 weeks, that was 18 months ago. My dad ordered one and it took 9 days, that was 3 weeks ago. Order noe for xmas. They have been known to have poor delivery times near holidays!

My studio 1745 is still pre-prduction! My estimated delivery date is 22/12, that will be 6 weeks from order :(

I am guessing Dell is really busy or suffering shortages at the mo

The lead time is highly dependant on what you order.

My Studio 1557 was ordered on Friday morning and shipped today.

i ordered a new i7 on the 13th nov and del was due on 24th. its now the 15th dec at the earliest. looking elsewhere for sudden replacement as the lead time for it now and apparently all dell laptops is 25th dec. thats what the manager told me. eek!

That is rubbish I'm afraid.

The lead on a Studio 15 is about 7-9 days.

The lead on a Studio XPS 16 is more like 4 weeks.

JaimeF do you work there ?

I think i may cancel my order , im not waiting till after christmas ... Really is poor show by dell i think 2 weeks is taking the ****

Sam

Took 4 days when I ordered my XPS Gen 2 four years ago but my sister's Studio 15 took over two weeks in the summer.

I cant see how such a large company can find it that hard to build a laptop and ship it within a week ?

Just seems crazy, and the annoying thing is really they have me by the balls because there isnt a lot else that offers what i want

Grrrr

its because there all built to order apparently. i questioned that they must have thousand ready to ship, especially non modified ones like mine. she said there inundated with orders at the moment and that del times is currently 25th dec for new orders and already ordered systems like mine.

that is qouting the manager who probably reads from a sheet and as they all lie its hard to tell who telling the truth. not my made up time scales matey!

im sorry but a laptop can be built and tested within a few hours .... especially somewhere like dell .... Crazy

Yes but that assumes they have staff just sitting about reading their paper until your order pops out of the printer. No Company can afford that, especially one as big as Dell.

You new order goes to the bottom of the pile for the team building your model to get around to.

If you happen to Tesburyson's and order 20,000 systems for new stores, the teams building single orders get re-deployed, so we have to wait. It's a fact of life.

If you want a system off the shelf go to the people who sell cardboard boxes with laptops in them. If you want to customise one to your exact needs, you have to be patient.

I appreciate this but i still think a week for taking the order / build / delivery shouldent be hard ... Fact is as you said this costs more money and therefor thats why we have o wait so long

It will eventually get better i would expect

They do build them in a day, and if all the parts are in stock then you just have to wait for your turn in the queue. If there's a part that's not in stock, you need to wait for it to arrive at dell and then take your place at the back of the queue.

If you have a contact with one of the account managers in Ireland, order through them. They're always more than happy to help IME - plus orders through them go to the front of the queue rather than the back :)

Most of the week for build/delivery is the delivery side as they come from China or Poland - it's 2 or 3 days to pass through all the relevant couriers and get to your door, so it's only a day or 2 to order and build
