How long should u game for?

About 1 hour a day, except for 2006 when I was compulsively addicted to WoW and played something like 4 hours every evening. Then of course, Blizzard ruined it in January 2007 with TBC expansion, which caused me to detox from the game to the point of cancelling my subscription over a year ago. Kinda a blessing in disguise as vanilla WoW was too addictive.

Reminds me of myself. I also started in 2006 and took a 9 month break from the game after getting completely bored of the BC end game content.

The only difference is I ended up going back again and am still playing today. Slave for life!

I'm glad that I did play WoW though because I gained some guild friends who became real friends in the sense that I see them a few times a year and write to them every week even though none of us play the game any more.

The rules you have mentioned apply to SHOULD be at a PC screen for, for health reasons. They are different ot how long you DO game for or can game for!

Personally, I am in front of a screen from 7.30ish to 5ish at work everyday or the same at home if on holiday. Then at home I play SWTOR (previously Warhammer Online, Skyrim, Oblivion etc) for as many hours as I can a few times a week. Generally 3 nights from 7pm till 12.30/1am. This is solid time with Bio breaks and wife bothering me only, Diet Coke bottle next to me for sustinance.

In the past when the wife and son have been away and I have been off/holiday I have done 6am till 3am with Bio/Food breaks. But not at regular or good intervals, maybe 20 mins at midday, the rest in game.

I do stop if I start to feel strange, normally have a bit of a walk to the shops to get some more Diet Coke or munchies. I do consider it unhealthy at times, but no worse than sitting down in front of the TV for hours on end watching rubbish.

I have only met one guildie face to face, but he was my boss at work so I got him into the game anyway! The really strage thing was speaking to another english guy in guild I learnt he lives a few miles from my work! I have been playing with the same core people for 3 years+ now and consider them mates, we live too far away (Sweden, Denmark, Holland, Norway, UK, Hungary, Romania,) to see each other really! We even kept speaking on Vent when we stopped Warhammer and moved to Star Wars. We were all playing different games, BF3, Skyrim, Civ5, World Of Tanks but just chatting!

I play for about 1 hour then have a break, usually food, Tiberium Wars games only last about 45 minutes for me anyway lol

There's been many a time where I have done full weekends worth of gaming. Especially when growing up, I used to play in American clans as well as British ones. Meaning, I'd play from 5-10ish, and then have to play around 3am too for an hour. Then up for school / work / nothing and carry on.

Now, I tend to play around 15 hours a week I think, and if I'm honest it's not really enough! Until I get my game room sorted, I don't have massive amounts of opportunity to game, as the girl likes to watch her usual dross on tv :)

Normally 2-3 hours an evening, when the baby is asleep and the wife is at work, i find evening TV an absolute dire and result in gaming. But it's important to take a break for an evening, otherwise it would feel boring doing the same thing every evening.

Tonight im watching a Dvd with my wife and a bottle of wine.

Normally play around 4-5 hours on the week days after work (get home around half 4), but not every day anymore :( maybe 3 out of 5 days.

As for the weekend, very rarely unless it's raining and I have nothing better to do.

These days I seem to find something else to do rather than game. I’ll be very lucky if I manage a couple of hours a month.

I usually game about 2 hours a day, but it really depends on what else is going on. If I get a whole day to myself, I'll sometimes devote a fair chunk of time to gaming, but unless I've got some truly amazing games on the go I'll usually get bored within a few hours.

Back in the days of WOW about 10 hours or more a day

One of those casual playing noobs then ;):p

Nowadays I hardly spend any time gaming, but during the WOW days it was full day every day...but that was the bane of being a Guild Leader of a competitive raid group.

Still, for non moving single session gaming, Settlers probably had to be the worst....could easily play 8-10hrs without moving... :o

For as long as the girlfriend permits. Usually not very long until she starts scowling at me and giving me the death stare. :(

WOW was a ridiculous timesink, of course when I started playing it like most people I became obsessed with grinding/levelling/being awesome so would regularly spend nearly all day playing it, often ending up with late night dungeon trips ending at 5am or later, ugh.... Student life eh?
Nowadays I go for intense 1-2hr blasts on the PS3 or BF3 on the PC and then take a break, theres always something that needs doing whether its in the garden or getting something from the shops, its easy to get sucked into a game but it can make you forget that free time ain't really free, and by sitting on your ass all day playing games someone else will have to clean up your **** or you will have one motherload to sort out when you eventually do break away, that said, if you've done all your homework and chores kids, stick that game on, you'll find you enjoy it more, games get boring after about 2 hours anyways.

I don't watch TV so I feel less guilty - normally game from 20:00 to 22:00 but since SWTOR has come out 20:00 to 01:00 but no more at the weekend - daytime is the kids time. I'll stop soon and switch back to my normal routine 3-4 days per week ... maybe :D

tbh i cant remember the last time i played a game properly.. i mean 3hrs+.. must be early 2010.. or when tdu2 was released :/ now i play 30 mins of fm4 once or twice a week and thats about it :O

For FPS's I find a couple of hours is probably enough, particularly in frantic multilayer stuff - it just makes my eyes hurt.
But back in the days of Total Annihilation LAN matches, a single 6 player game could last from friday night through to sunday afternoon with the occasional break for food and tea. The few hours sleep you'd get, when everyone was too tired to concentrate anymore, was plagued by visions of Kbots advancing in massive base rushes, across metal worlds broken only by the refuse of previous slogging battles.
TA, still the best rts I ever played, even if it did suck the life out of you :D
