How long to wait after an interview

Well they still have not got back to me, surley that is a bad sign? Oh well i spose i should give them a ring, or shuold i wait till monday
 
Well i gave them a quick ring, and apparently the manager was abroad and they will get back to me early next week..

Im guessing thats a good sign???

That's one of the questions I always ask at interview when I can't think of anything else... Depends how many people they're interviewing and where you fell within that, really.

I had an interview on Tuesday and got a call on Wednesday, wahoo! :D

Is only for an 8 week internship over the summer though.

Awesomely :) Was a good friendly chatty interview with the engineers, after only a few of those awful (wrong attitude yada yada) personality-based questions from the HR woman.

The recruiter rang me 4 or so hours after the interview with the good news, and I sent my acceptance letter yesterday!
 
LOL - I applied for a job in November last year, just had an interview and won't know until mid-march....now moan to me about waiting 5 days!!! ;)
 
Was it through an agency?

If it was:

1) You got the job and will make them money - they are now your best-est friends in the whole wide world and will be in touch IMMEDIATELY they hear from their client, and will pester you continually till all the paperwork ia done and the deal is sealed.

2) You didn't get the job so the agency will not waste any time on you, nor will they even bother inform you that you didn't get the job. If you phone for progress checks the person concerned will be busy but someone willl take a message and you will be phoned back later today. Yeah Right!
 
When I'm interviewing, the time it takes me to get back to an agency/candidate depends on:

  • How many people I've yet to interview
  • How busy I am
  • How urgently I need the position filled
  • The quality of the candidates so far

There's no hard and fast rule. Sometimes it's hours, others it can be over a week.

If you've applied through an agency, I'm sure they're either busting your potential employers balls for an answer or forwarding them a load more CVs.

A good tactic is to say you've been offered a simliar position, however would prefer to work for the company in question and are keen to know where you stand.

:( They still haven't got back to me, I'm very tempted to try something like this, but wouldn't know how when to do it very professionally (any advice welcome)

I think that the manager is seeing some people about getting the budget for that part of the company increase or something, maybe? but its over a week now.

The job isn't for some amazingly high qualified esoteric type thing. Its about £17/18k and generally for graduates, and I'm more than qualified to do it so i don't know where that puts me on the supply demand scheme of things. Just gonna sit tight...............................:rolleyes::rolleyes:
