How long until FAIL gets 4 stars?

Firefox 3 has built in spell checker that cheacks while you type. Encoraged me to spell better, but dont have it on this pc...

Firefox in general has a built in dictionary and spell checker, it's nothing new in FF3

Just make sure you have the English UK version turned on.

<the abreiviation for 'Quoted For Truth'> is a recent addition too, I have posted it recently and it was fine, but tonite its been 3 stared.

lol I've never read as quoted for truth. I always read it as 'Quite ****ing True'. Learn something new every day

Perhaps to not encourage laziness, none of the acronyms in the original post (OP if you really want) really add anything to a topic except give people a PC+1 opportunity. You couldn't block every pointless post (and you wouldn't want to) but to remove some of the more obvious ones does make some sense especially as text speak is infinitely more irritating to read.

As for the swearing, I think it is to encourage a bit of restraint, this is nominally a family forum and it isn't a huge amount of effort to refrain from swearing while on here.

Because several subforums and threads use the word 'fail' a lot. In graphics cards, a lot fail and the point is raised in discussion, etc. It's ridiculous to censor one word just because a couple of people misused it. Communist!

How long until OcUK forums ban FAIL and replace it with ****?

Q F T is now gone
T E H is gone, which is normally a simple spelling mistake anyway
U R is gone

and a load others too. Dont get me wrong, i can understand that these things are annoying, but its a lot of effort to go to to remove harmless fun, yet they seem to not have auto filters for swearies? Which would be my main priority?

F T W really irritated me when the eVGA F T W motherboard was announced

I think Semi pro waster pretty much summed it up.

A lot of the words in the swear filter are there because people extract the urine, or they were getting truly annoying.
t.x.t spellings for example are in the filter because people were making whole posts using them, and it was a choice of either banning the users or adding them to the filter, then banning the users who deliberately bypassed the filter (there is zero need for them on the forum when you've got a proper keyboard).

Other ones are there because they've been overused/abused to the point of driving admins/mods insane with rage.

Swearing isn't though because people will just bypass it anyway or mispell it on purpose making it harder to find
