How long will I get away with this I wonder?

Stuck some black/silver numberplates on my CTR, figured I'd see what sort of response I got from the local Plod...

(excuse the crappy cameraphone pics, it was dark)

I think it suits the colour of the car quite nicely and I've kept the font & spacing of the letters "legal" (for what it's worth - probably nothing).

Thoughts?

I like them :)

I always meant to get black/silver plated on the RX7 but never got round to it. They suit black cars nicely IMO.

Liking the wheels and exhaust BTW. Those headlights aren't stock either are they?

Well as it was not built before 1st Jan 1973, Probably not that long.

To quote the DVLA: "Vehicles constructed before 1.1.73 may display traditional style ‘black and white’ plates i.e. white, silver or grey characters on a black plate."

I think they look ace.

From a purely aesthetic standpoint, silver-on-black makes a lot more sense on a car than black-on-yellow, given that there's absolutely nothing else on a car that's yellow [yeah, except for similarly-yellow cars of course :P], whereas there are plenty of opportunities to match up with chromework, grilles and trim with silver/black.

If I could get away with it [and if I had a car :D] I'd go with these every time. Well ideally, I'd get some with old-school raised prismatic lettering, but that's just me and my nostalgia.

Thanks for the comments.

Yes, in case it wasn't obvious I've blanked out 2 letters for privacy sake. :)

Exhaust isn't TODA, it's a J's Racing 60RS (titanium) - easy mistake to make though as the tailpipes look very similar. Grill is indeed Mugen, and the headlights are OEM (although getting xenons fitted this week).

I just figured I would see what they looked like on the car really, I'm expecting to get pulled sooner or later. Whether or not I can talk myself out of a ticket when this happens is another matter. :)

Blends in with the car much better.

I'd love to be able to get away with putting a white & black rear numberplate on my Prelude, the yellow is the only bit of colour on the whole exterior of the car (other than the brake calipers and the UK in the PreludeUK logo), the rest of the theme is black & white. The yellow is out of place.

I've yet to try risking it, though. It seems the black/silver doesn't get as much grief though!
