How long will I get away with this I wonder?

Blends in with the car much better.

I'd love to be able to get away with putting a white & black rear numberplate on my Prelude, the yellow is the only bit of colour on the whole exterior of the car (other than the brake calipers and the UK in the PreludeUK logo), the rest of the theme is black & white. The yellow is out of place.

I've yet to try risking it, though. It seems the black/silver doesn't get as much grief though!

Actually that's made me think. My car has a black/white theme going on, I reckon a white on black rear plate would look awesome on mine.

Hmmm.......

I've never understood why people do this, they are clearly illegal and will have to be changed at some point. As soon as a Police car is behind you they will stop you.

I've seen another car locally (light grey Vectra) with black/silver plates, the guy said he'd had them on for 2 weeks and hadn't been pulled. He even asked if I was an undercover cop when I rushed out of B&Q to ask him about them. :D

Wiltshire Police being what it is I could quite easily get away with them for several weeks due to not seeing a Police car, or them not being in a position where they can easily turn around, or I could end up with one behind me tomorrow on the way into work - such is luck. As "crimes" go though I don't think it's particularly bad, though I'm well aware of the likelihood of getting a FPN and I won't protest too much about it :)

I'd say you were more likely to get away with a non-standard front plate, mainly because a copper would have to be able to turn around after coming towards you to stop you, whereas if they happen to be behind you, or be able to overtake traffic to get behind you, you're buggered.

Your tax disc looks a bit red though, why don't you scan it in, convert it to grayscale in Photoshop and then print out a new one to match the plates. ;)

Good idea, I could change my brake lights to white as well to continue the theme!

It's only a bit of fun really - I'm well aware of the Law and likely punishment, when I finally do get a £30 FPN I'll remove the plates and go back to being an anonymous conformist so you can sleep easy at night.

because it looks good

and so what if you get pulled and told to remove em ?

i'd see how often i could get away with "i wasnt sure if they were or not so i've got the original plates in the boot just to be safe"

some people have gone years with illeal plates and not got pulled.

I have a set of black and silver plates here which I really want to put on my car but I don't have hthe balls to do so, even though I think it would look great. I'd be interested to see what sort of reception it gets from the police.

Looks pretty good, didnt TomO on here used to have black plates on his M5? they suited that too, only get away with it on a black car though.

That's right, I think they looked awesome on his M5 - much better than standard plates.

child killer and so on and so forth...

personally dont like em but be warned its just an excuse for a pull

Looks rubbish im afraid.

So you know you will "probably" get stopped by the police but you still do it ? You must have more money than sense..

Looks good IMO. Hopefully you won't get pulled over - it would be quite petty, but it is against the law unfortunately - I'd be shocked if you got a raping for it though.

For 6 months I got away without a front numberplate on the 5, I wasn't pulled over for it, but I re-attached them when I wanted to sell. I'm tempted to remove the front number plate again - I can't stand 'em.
