That's odd, as my VM has gone down a couple of times recently. I just switch to 3GEE and tether off that. My phone plan includes 25GB of data per month, so it's essentially a 2nd ISP for me
I've gone for many extended periods (months at a time) without internet over the years. Whilst I spend practically every moment of my spare time online when I've got it, it's easy to live without. No electric is grim though.
Never mind the internet going down, we had a power cut earlier and the whole village was affected. The wife was like "what am I going to do now"? She wasn't interested in my suggestion so I got my Kindle out. Good job I had the led torches freshly charged!!
Advantage of helping to fix local laptops, can switch to a different ISP through their wireless if mine goes down and they can connect to ours if theirs does. Worst case I have unlimited 3G data on contract which can be tethered. Usually get more powercuts than ISP downtime but again that's in phases so the internet can still be shared.
My internet has never gone down in the last 4 years
If it did though, I'd just play a game or something. Go on the phone if I really needed the internet.
It's more than a phone because it's a handheld console replacement, MP3 player replacement, PDA replacement. Android and iOS phones replace a lot of previous tech. Maps and so on. Plus, I like the edge-to-edge display on the S8 / S8+. I'm surprised that you posted this on a tech forum tbh. In fact, I think you're trolling
Anyway, my contract was due mid-2017 and I just went for the current flagship. No landline, so the £46 is what I pay all-in for phone.
