how low can you go?- how low can you get your mpg ?

well with these days of economy motoring, everyone worrying about the cost of petrol/diesel etc all we seem to see is look at my epeen and my 60mpg pictures being posted

managed some spirited driving in the vectra and got it down into the low 20's :)

bear in mind i dont drive a 3.2 v6 or a 2.8 turbo, i drive a supposedly economical 1.9 CDTI :)

I didn't say they were sensible diesel commuting cars :-P

I could throw the Westfield in the mix but:-

1: it doesn't have a fuel comp.
2: I don't do much commuting in it at this time of year!

FFS do you not own a copy of excel and have umpteen spreadsheets devoted to your cars fuel useage ????????????

Thats not fair, it excludes my proper diesel..... :(;):D
Anyway, whilst some I'm sure are sick of me posting truck stuff, others may be interested by these..... :o

All average MPG readings, not instant! over various distances, pulling various weights. - 7 to 28 ton payload, Maximum of 44t.

Shunting fully loaded trailers around a yard is particularly heavy on the consumption figures!

I normally hover around 23-25 mpg (US gallons mind) but that's due to a lot of freeway driving on cruise control at 75mph.

When I rag it for a laugh the instant goes to about 2mpg lol, I reckon could do a 15mpg average without too much difficulty just by driving like a loon :p

Had to do a double take when I saw those 2.5 figures. What's the average fuel tank capacity on a lorry? :)

My Scania has twin tanks, circa 550 litres. :)

Some of Stobarts continental spec trucks hold 1000+ litres. - I've seen a Spanish registered Volvo with 2500litre fuel capacity!:eek:
 
This is a fairly stupid thread given its not hard to reset the MPG counter and then just nail the throttle up a sliproad. I can get 6mpg doing that.

true enough - I've managed 5mpg from my e39 doing that! , although I just get a plain zero in the Scania..... Equally, on the overrun it'll display 350 odd MPG!

Its hardly a serious thread is it though? :)
 
My usual tank average is ~21mpg but I can get as low as 2mpg flooring it up a sliproad.
