i dunno ... the raft spider, native to East Anglia is a whopper, and with global warming, spiders in the UK are getting larger ...

not anything like here though

:)

I prefer to put them outside.

I was lying in bed this morning and out of the corner of my eye I saw something moving on the pillow next to me. Turned out to be a small spider but it could have so much worse!!! :(

Uk Spiders dont cause death :p

BTW while out in Canberra make sure you look out for and dont mess with the funnel web spider.
They have venom potent enough to take out a couple elephants =/ ( i think its can take down elephants, the moral of the story is it can kill a human :p )

They can also live underwater for about 3 days

That's a remarkably stupid thing to do. Atrax roustus are extremely aggressive and often bite with little or no provocation. The mechanical wound itself is quite serious and prone to infection and the systematic effects of the venom are extremely serious, possibly resulting in death.

Never really killed any myself. Its not exactly going to kill me is it....if they are easy to get to i will get the old cup and piece of paper out and put them outside(bad if they are a house spider i assume?) or if they disappear then i wont go hunting to kill them.

My cat on the other hand can have some fun if she find one...

I catch my spiders and put them in an old CD spindle holder. I'm hoping to see a fight between them someday but they all just die after a couple of months. They don't even eat eachother or some flies and mosquitos I managed to get in to them. Lazy buggers, it's like a spider graveyard in there atm.

I only kill the ones that invade my space. E.g. on my pillow gets the yellow pages on it's head.

However ones in the corners of the ceiling etc are left, as they do a good job of eating the flies during the summer.

You're the kind of person who would enjoy praying mantises as pets.
