In 24 years of driving since 1988:

Mk2 Golf Driver
Mk2 Golf CL
Mk2 Scirocco GTX
Mk2 Golf GTI 16v
Mk3 Golf VR6 Highline
Audi TT coupe 225
Mk4 Golf V6 4motion <-- bought in 2004 and still own it
Corrado VR6 <-- bought last year and still own it

I like my Golfs :) They may not be the worlds most exciting car nowadays but if you get the right one they can still be fun and are hugely practical (I've moved house several times in my mk2 and mk4). The only car i regret was the mk2 Golf CL which was admittedly very boring and I soon sold it. I loved the TT as it was the only car I've bought new and I managed to sell it a year later with almost no depreciation. It was a great car and I only sold it because I was driving less than 2k in a year. I then got another Golf when I had kids, and the Corrado is just a bit of fun without spending a lot of money.
