I type with the index fingers on both hands, always felt this was optimal and I can type pretty fast.

But I have found out that other people type with all of their fingers?

How would I learn how to type with all my fingers, the way I type just feels too ingrained and I can't do it in another way.

Do you guys type with all your fingers?

I can touch type on a proper keyboard. Easy enough to learn but not so easy to master.

Most of my posting on here is now done on my tablet so it's either index finger on my right hand or both thumbs depending on how I'm holding it.

Touch-type on keyboards up to RSA level 2, gotten used to both desktops and on laptops.

For touch phones, I still prefer 3x4 keyboard with T9 because 12 larger buttons is easier on my eyesight. My Android still offers this if I'm typing in portrait, with landscape changing to QWERTY. With 3x4, I dial one-fingered.

I touch type I just don't use every finger.

Oh I use my thumb for space but I'm not counting the thumb as a finger :)

Posting from tablet ATM, so just two thumbs with split keyboard.

Normally on a computer I'll type with about 8 fingers, I tend to avoid using the little fingers, but can do if I want to. I do occasionally use them though.

When I learnt to touch type (MSN years) I just learnt to do it all fingers. Now a days I can touch type on tablets, just through knowing where the keys are. Knowing where the keys are is the first step.

I guess you could air touch type. I can do this now a days with all fingers xD

Argh why are you people talking about touch typing.

Thats just knowing where the keys are without looking, which you could do with 1 finger if you wanted.

I'm asking how many fingers you can type with, what does touch typing have to do with anything.

No more talk about touch typing thanks.

Because touch typing is more than just typing without looking. There is actually a standard to it, set fingers on set keys.

I was actually taught it at school.

I was never taught anything like that, now my horrible index fingers method is too ingrained for me to unlearn

Ten, though obviously the thumbs only hit the spacebar. I can touch type, I thought that the vast majority of people on this forum could do so. Last time I was tested, I was around 85wpm with 100% accuracy.
