So guys who has pre ordered the 780 Lightning?

Any news on when its landing as pre order says over due?

And any news on what drivers are best for it just now?

Don't think it's worth the premium considering it uses elpida memory.

The EVGA Classified 780's do 1.35v too apparently and the card costs less with better manufacturer support.

I've the money but hate wasting it on over priced GPU cards.
Never smoked or drink myself that's why have lots of spare cash lol.

There is no more Samsung ram, only Elpida. Bad show from NV and its AIBs, sending off review samples knowing full well the cards people will be purchasing will not clock as well. Reminds me of the 5850 v2 reference PCBs that were crap compared to the originals.

Hi,

we do also have models with Samsung RAM arround, from outside you can not see which RAM is on the card, the only way to get to know it with our cards is to open it and have a look...

Cheers

So does the flagship model the gtx 780 classified have samsung?

It is depending on availability, there are 780 Classi models with Samsung and 780 Classi models with Elpida RAM out there. We do not track which S/N do have which RAM so the only way to get to know this is by opening the card and have a look.

I no nothing about Elpida but does not sound good will this effect all new range of NV cards what about AMD cards?

on amd cards elpida ram usually maxes at around 1500-1600mhz and that's after a voltage bump, anymore it degrades and will never get stable.

Hynix has an average of 1600-1800 and can go beyond that with little additional volts.

samsungs is rare on AMD cards from what I know, but better than Hynix.

not sure how elpida clock on NVidia but usually the vid is 1.5v and don't oc much at all no matter the cooling attempts. (not talking subzero)

most people avoid elpida because of the scalability and lack of overclocking.

I'm stighly confused as to why you would get this new card when you could get a 7990 for less? Any reason at all apart from being a NV fan boy?

People like nvidia

or

people want a fast single card without the associated problems of CF (...micro stutter)

The price of the lightening is completely insane but to some the money's nothing.
