How many of you have the will power to do this?

This is something that has always amazed me with my best mate.
Every Thursday we go round theirs for a curry and two things will happen:
1) His phone rings and he goes to pick the grandkids up from 2.5 miles away
2) His phone rings and he goes to pick the curry up 1.5 miles away
Both times he will put the his phone on the table and just go, obviously 10 years ago for around 4 weeks I said "You've forgot your phone" but he takes no notice and just goes.
Even at my old age I wouldn't be able to leave the house to go 100 yards without my phone, I'm not addicted to it, it's a lifeline.

About a year ago he left to get the curry and was a long time so I picked his phone up and went to look for him, his car had broken down so I gave him his phone and he waited for recovery while I took the curry back home.
Now you'd think after that experience he'd take his phone with him but no and last night he broke down again which meant I had to eventually go looking for him and took his phone.

So OCUK, how many of you would gladly leave your phone at home while going out, I know I can't?

Not really a mobile phone if you leave it at home. That's just daft.

I don't have it on me if I'm doing any kind of sport though.

I quite often do it. Especially if just going round to someone’s house. My wife often does it too.

It’s quite nice when we’re out together without one of us using a phone. It’s all too easy to just start looking at stuff.

Gladly, but then I have no kids, or any reason why anyone would desperately need to get hold of me if I leave my phone for an hour or two.

I rarely drive, so unlikely to break down... if I did, I did.... tough **** :p

I always leave it at home unless I'm on a long journey or something and theres a risk of breaking down etc it amazes me how people are so wedded to their phones almost everyone walks down the street with their noses buried in their phones. Look up and smell the diesel fumes roses! I also have a tendency to lose things so theres that.

I've considered getting an esim for my smartwatch with this being one of the benefits. More for if I have an issue while out running (already don't take my phone then) but as most people have said, there isn't really a reason not to have a means of contact on you if you're in the car - just in case the worst should happen. Just leave it in the glovebox if you don't want it 'on you'

I leave mine at home all the time. If I am popping to the shops or going on local errands it can stay at home. The world wont end because I left my phone at home.

Not sure if that's will power or forgetfulness. The will power part would be taking your phone out with you and not looking at it every 5 seconds something that most people under 40 seem unable to do
