How many of you still use CDs?

So we're currently having a debate at work regarding who still buys CDs instead of downloading or streaming music over the net.

I was wondering if any of you guys still buy CDs and what reasons you have for doing so?

This could be interesting...

Possible someone can make a poll please?

The main problem I have with CD's is they are really only available for a very narrow band of music, at least in the B&M shops. Probably poor quality mastered CD too. So if you are having to go online to places like http://store.acousticsounds.com/ unless you've deep pockets its probably far easier to buy the digital format, or subscribe to a streaming service.

Saves all the hassle of tagging things the way you like too.

Don't talk rubbish.
There's nothing better than sitting back in your chair with your eyes closed while sipping on a Newcastle Brown.
Please don't tell me you're one of these who listens to music walking down the street, if so then get 128 MP3's.

I don't know how people love headphones of any kind. I find them annoying and irritating.

Good grief what are you looking for, the Papua New Guinea Nose & Throat Orchestra or Duck Billed Platypus Mating Calls?

All my local record B&M stores have nothing out side the top 20 or greatest hits at this stage, or really dire compilations. Anything beyond that you'd have to go to a specialist vinyl store even then you'll be hard pushed to find anything that's not "hipster".

Have you ever thought of looking on a thing called the Internet?
I've just bought The Wildhearts and Brian Setzer back catalogue for quite a cheap price, nearly all second hand.
They will be put into dBPoweramp CD Ripper which will automatically tag them as they rip to Flac.

Use the force.

I don't think you are following what I said.

Summary.

Buying CD's in Bricks and Mortar stores = poor choice
Buying CD's online - Might as well buy the Digital format.

I've bought quite a few these past 6 months mainly off discogs and sometimes ebay.

2nd hand ofc and it's only to get a lossless copy that is not available to download.

Junodownload, Trackitdown and beatport have had the majority of my custom as these are the only sites that offer a lossless option for the tracks I want. If there is no lossless option I will not buy it. TAKE NOTE APPLE, GOOGLE, AMAZON.

Just because your buying online, why does it have to be digital? I am actually finding a lot of CDs now cheaper than buying a digital copy.

I don't agree.
I want the CD so I can do with it what I want.

I agree with this.

I can only speak for myself. Whatever works for you.

It is completely a personal choice obviously.

Personally I do not see the point in purchasing a digital copy of music if the CD is cheaper. If there was a massive price difference then I may be swayed on some purchases, but only if the digital was high quality FLAC - no MP3s.

Right now I really want the FF8 soundtrack, but I cannot justify £40 for it. I have it in MP3 but since upgrading my system I do not enjoy listening to it as its not great quality MP3. Before when I had basic PC speakers and cheaper headphones I did not notice.
