How many of you still use CDs?

After ripping my CD's to MP3 320 I have now learnt the error of my ways and have just started ripping them to Flac.
Anybody who thinks MP3 320 are as good as Flac need a lobotomy.

Think?

Your ears may not be good enough to hear it, or your gear not good enough to play it back with enough fidelity.

Yup, nice to chill with in the music room. Spotify is okay, but prefer the CD quality and having the box.

In the car, Bluetooth to iPod. Car stereos are pretty naff compared to hi-fi, so it doesn't matter.

I can tell the difference with my mid range technics amp and mid range sennhieser hd650's , and so can the girlfriend. Without been sexist women ain't the best at noticing little differences like this, so for one to, it must be somewhat of a difference. Ok that is totally sexist

I have to be honest, up until my Mrs bought me my HD650s I was listening to MP3s just fine. I then started to notice problems with music and I thought it was the headphones. I tried FLAC and the problems went away. I invested in some mid range speakers and amp to improve room listening after.

I bought the lord of the rings score the other day and the difference with CD/FLAC to MP3 320 is massive. Even my wife came in and commented. I guess sometimes it does depend on the music, and even with all this said there are some songs that I could not tell on, but that's just me being honest.

When I say your ears. I meant peoples (in general) ears. For myself I struggle to hear a difference over 320 unless I'm using really good source material and gear. Most of the time I'll be listening to a poor source material and using lower end gear that stuffed into my pocket, in a relatively noisy environment. My ears aren't getting better with age either.

My favourite format was MD, and HiMD. Just loved the gadgetness of them.

But there are considerable advantages to streaming music. If you have the infrastructure and resources to do so. I like that too.

This cost me £500 but changed my life -

Up until that came out I was gigging in a duo and I recorded the backing tracks and put one on it's own cassette tape. My partner then used a double cassette deck and had to keep switching tapes during the performance.
I then bought two of these, in fact one is in a cupboard right next to my left foot -

Carted hundreds of cd's about whilst DJing, before that was a box of vinyl, now i just use Pioneers Rekordbox with a USB stick to put in the CDJ's 2000's:)

Very rarely do I buy physical CD's, if I do it's to keep as a memorabilia/collectors item.

Streaming is so much easier and hassle free for me now.
