How many of you will be missing work due to the weather conditions?

The European working time directive means that I have the day off today! I'm working tomorrow, I think I'm going to arrange a taxi rather than risk Tokyo Drift around Birmingham.

Are pubs always this busy at 1500 on a Friday? Is this how real people live their lives with normal jobs?

Getting to work wouldn't have been a problem, getting home probably would have knowing Southern Rail. Had physio this morning so was at home anyway, then gave my boss (good guy) a call who said I could work from home. Which I am sort of doing. So far I have accomplished 1.5 things out of 2. Time for another tea break.

Our CEO sent an all staff email about 2PM basically saying it was up to everyone's discretion when they left to avoid getting stuck, as the weather looked like it was only going to worsen.

I left about 2.45, many others left before me. In 2010 we had many of our workers whose usual 1-1.5 hour commutes ended up taking 12+ hours. Even my 20 min commute took me 4 hours that year. So no one takes the risk anymore and leaves early if bad snow is forecast.

Woke up to a phone call not to bother coming into work today :D probably gonna have to make my way in tomorrow tho when its all turned to dirty icey stuff :|

We decided to work extra yesterday and get the job finished, rather than have the possibility of getting stuck, so day off.

+1 I stayed a bit later yesterday and took some home to do this morning. I do have a 50 mile each way commute though, it would've taken me forever to get home
