How many people leave their console turned on when not in use?

Someone at my work leaves his PS3 on when playing GT5. He talks about winning races easy in manager mode or something. I can't believe what I hear, so you don't even have to play the games these days to get achievements.

You can do it in Forza too, 'Employ a driver' or something like that :p it's pretty ludicrous.

It's really well done in GT5 imo, you can employ a driver and take him through an entire career while you act as the manager of the team. You can issue orders to him during the race and you can start remote races when you're not in front of the console so that your drivers still earn XP. Wildly off topic but whatever. :D

Turning it on/off infact worsens the RROD issue. As it's the expansion/contraction through heating/cooling that breaks the solder. Not that it really applies to Slims today.

If you left an 2005 Xbox 360 on from day 1 it'll probably working to this day, not counting possible failures in other components from wear. : )

What about counting the possibility of it melting through the desk, then the floor, then the planet? My brothers model couldnt last long sessions in the summer let alone being on for 7 years! :)

I pay the electricity of course I turn it off :p

I always switch my PS3 off when I'm not using it.

My girlfriend on the other hand leaves it on all day (she watches crap on LoveFilm, then just flicks over to TV without switching it off). I give her grief about it, but she doesn't pay any attention.

Guess which of us handles the electric bill! :p

I don't get that. Why on earth would you buy a driving game then not drive on it?

Xbox gets turned off if I'm not using it. PC I may leave on, but since I can boot to desktop in 12 seconds that's not all that often.

When I get home from work this is the standard thing I am greeted with in the house:

Unecessary amount of lights turned on, computer left on with screen burning away, tv left on on some kids channel, wii left on with disc spinning away, PS3 on where someone has accidentally hit the PS button in the middle of the controller when throwing other stuff back in the drawer, amp left on, upstairs TV will be left on on pause coz she's "watching that" whilst making the dinner.

Turn it oOOOOFFFF. All offffff. I pay the damn bill.

I'll only leave the Xbox on for a period of time if I'm in the middle of something and can't save it, and the wife wants to watch TV or something. Generally speaking though, it goes on when I want to play something, it goes off when I'm done with it.

Indeed, they dont seem to realise things like lights, TV, CD player, console, etc. switch "off" as well as "on". I make a point of going round the house when I get home from work switching off all the unnecessary lights, usually to be told "I was going back in there!". When? In 2 hours?!
