How many points are you allowed on your license ?

I'm not used to driving very far, i wasn't expecting to see any vans / camera's

I suppose im still new to driving, i looked @ my licence and it says the 21-10-05 was the start date. If i get more than 5 points then i will lose it :(

I feel so depressed right now :(

I want to know if i was caught or not and i know that i will have to wait for the piece of paper to come in the post...

Does anyone know how long it takes ? :(

My very kind mum has offered to say she was driving on the way home though :D

A few points...

1. That's illegal and if caught you could be charged with perverting the course of justice.
2. The scamera van very probably has a picture of your face behind the wheel.
3. If you're still planning on doing it then I'd refrain from posting as much on a public forum tbh.

they've got 14 days to send out a NIP. so count on 14 days from now, if nothing comes your safe, and if anything does come after the 14 day period theres nothin they can really do.

If your read the thread its a company vehicle; so its 6 months i believe

What was the speed limit on this camera-van road you were doing 80 on? If it was 70 and you were doing exactly 80 there's a fair chance you wont get prosecuted even if they were operating at the time.

Its the limit for a van 10mph lower than a car on a NSL or Dual Carriage Way?

So therefore he was 20mph over? Or am I confused

Indeed for Vans/LGVs NSL Single - 50mph Dual - 60mph Motorway - 70mph

Cars and car derived vans 60, 70 and 70 respectively.

Perverting the course of justice, fun for all the family and a world more serious than 3 points and a £60 fine :)

The picture from the van will show you as the driver. Don't be stupid.

for what its worth you *can* speed in cardiff (not that i'm advocating it)...its just having local knowledge and avoiding the a470 at *all* costs that helps :)

Got to say though- how didn't you notice the gatso? Its bright yellow and theres not much of an excuse (unless you're doing way over the limit) to not see them...

Although you sure you drove down the a470 if you took the m4/m5? Unless you took the a470 on the way back?- the A470 runs up through the valleys.

HOLY THREAD REVIVAL BATMAN :p

Nothing has come throught to the Boss yet ( Who owns the truck )

I told him the day after it happened and he laughed at me

Is there a chance that a nasty letter could pop through the door any day ?

If you havent heard yet then i wouldnt think you will.

hmm something in this thread has worried me.... is it 6 points and you lose your licence if you have:
* had your licence for less than a year.
* been driving less than a year.

which one?

you're not kidding.
risking the penalty for perverting the course of justice just to get out of a speeding ticket is just crazy.
3 points & small fine against huge fine and/or possible imprisonment just isn't a worthwhile risk in my book.

Within the first two years of getting your licence, you will lose it on reaching 6 points and will have to re-sit the test.
