How many supplements is too many

I use to be really bad, now I take nothing even when on prep.

sometimes Ill have a shake after training but a balanced diet needs little to no supplementation.

That's pretty impressive considering I'm sure there was a point when you were practically supplementing your supplements with the odd bit of food :p

Nothing but protein, I'm afraid that is drivel. Your body needs either fats or carbs. Plus, what food are you finding with nothing but protein?

Or are you being sarcastic?

Serious, though I confess I was being a bit over the top in that probably 5% of what I ate was fat.

Mainly chicken, tuna, beef and eggs.

So how are you fueling your body, you either need carbs like most of the population or be in ketosis to burn fat for energy?

Yes you can burn protein for energy but this is best used elsewhere in your body.

I suppose I was burning a combination of body fat and protein for energy.

I have done ketosis since then and that requires a much, much higher consumption of fat than I ever did whilst eating primarily protein.

Don't take this the wrong way but did you have a lot of body fat to start with? Genuine question, not fat bashing.

Yes, that was the point of it. I dropped approximately half a pound a day for three months whilst doing that. A bit of walking as well, but not really much exercise of significance.

Interestingly though, once I got to the minimum, and my weight was stable, I still did OK on that diet - no ill effects. But given that I was no longer losing weight, nor needed to, I stopped.

Makes more sense now, you had a goal and hit it.

However you're initial post sounded as though you were a regular guy on a primarily protein diet which is why a few of us were questioning it.

Mind if I ask what the weight change was?
