How many times do traffic light camera's flash?

It's not about who's perfect or not. I am, and you'll have to deal with it. :p

This is about the BASICS of driving.

Oh bore off already.

I wasn't in the wrong, I know that for a fact. Did I complain that I got cought? No, I asked a perfectly legitimate question, I went through the lights at amber which is not breaking the law. Fact is, you don't know exactly what happened therefore you don't have enough evidence to form an educated opinion, so therefor you're spouting nonsense to increase the size of your already over inflated ego. Like I said, if you have nothing constructive to post then don't bother, people like you really annoy me.

You keep going on don't you?

You went through on AMBER, so there's no problem. What are you worrying about? Traffic light cameras are for people who jump the lights when they are red. RED, being the stop colour (the one at the top if you're colour blind).

People like you annoy me, cos it's people like you who fail to accept blame when they are in the wrong.

It's nothing to do with ego, son.

Anyway, it's your license. Up to you how you drive.

if a car went through behind you. then 99% chance it's his ticket.

That's what I thought, plus the time it took after I had gone through till when the flash went off made me think I was fine. The first one went and I must have been a good 70-100 yards clear of the stop line, so I kind of presumed that it was him that was done since he was in perfect sight of the camera at the time it went off, it's just the second flash and the apparent lack of another car that threw me.

Why are you contradicting yourself now?

As far as I'm aware they all flash twice as they take your speed as well. All though I don't think you can get done for speeding as there's no calibration marks on the road.

Where's the contradiction?

You still have to approach lights with the intention of stopping.
You still have to stop on red.
You still wont get flashed if you go through on amber.

Coming onto the A46/M40 roundabout the light went amber when I was about 15 yards from them, I went through as there was no chance I would have stopped. An Audi TT followed me another 50 yards or so behind me and the camera went off twice. There were no other cars that went through that I could see.

I'd be pretty hacked off if I was done as there was no way of stopping for the line without a reverse thrust jet engine or something.

OK, how do I post something constructive about that?

"Hope you don't get caught"

You want a thread full of well wishes then?

Should have anticipated imo.

So, do tell me how you would stop 15 yards away from the line doing 50 on an NSL road.

Fair play to the OP, if it was an NSL road and you were doing 50, you had obviously slowed down and anticipated that the lights may have changed earlier than they did.

ohmygaaaawd

yeah, he might have slowed down to 50, but that wasnt enough to stop him if the lights did show red.

you know the lights. big things, bright. on tall sticks. and the cameras. again, big things on sticks. stand out a bit.

if you cant see these, then how the hell could you see a pedestrian walking into the road?

My question is answered now, thanks. Go attempt to annoy someone else, as you're boring me now ALLI. Bet you're a typical middle or overtaking lane hogger.

Personally, I don't give a rats about how people judge my driving, I'm on the road every single day in everything from small cars, tracked vehicles and 44 tonnes of liquid being dragged behind me in an arctic, so I know the rules of the road and how to drive and I have experience to back me up. I knew I was in the right, I had anticipated the junction, yet you proceeded by telling me how I should have reacted or driven in the situation without knowing anything about it apart from what I had put in the post. Now call me weird or what you want, but to me, there's zero need for your comments, and they weren't constructive as they added nothing to the thread apart from making yourself look like a tool.

So you're a lorry driving ***** then? Says it all.

I'm not attempting to annoy you, but I clearly am. If you cannot deal with public opinion, don't post on a public forum. If you're such a good driver, why are you even posting about a camera going off when it was amber?

You obviously have lots of road experience. It shows.

There's no space in "miseducated".

:D

Anyway, call it quits now. Banter aside. Apologies for winding you up, but if you're forces you'll have had worse.

They flash twice to prove you've actually properly overshot the junction, I believe.

There's a nasty set of traffic lights on the A44 near here with a camera on that have nearly caught me out, they're a 70mph limit and if they happen to change at the wrong time I guess you could quite easily get caught.

By Kidlington Airport are the worst, my dad got caught there. The trick is to drop it down a gear, approach them and look to the right to see if there are cars waiting. If there are cars there, expect to brake. If there isn't, floor it :D
