How many times have you been stoped by the cops?

I've been stopped 4 or five times in the last 19 yrs, mainly for spot checks etc although there was the time about 10 yrs ago that I was topped by 3 cars at once (well 2 cars and a dog van).

i been stopped 4 times.

1st time was at 3am in the morning, driving with my mate in his car , in an area i wasnt very knowledge-able about so i stayed close, got pulled over for constantly using my brakes, 2nd time was again an early moment job, taking 4 people home from town, police followed me more or less from town , got to my mates area (pretty rough :p) thought they were going to pull me then a scrambler went flying past so they pulled him.....................outside my mates house, so i got questioned then, 3rd time was for doing a mile or two over the limit, however no points issued  and last time was a stupid one, going to tesco at 8pm ish, went thru "gypsy" cross and cut a corner a little bit, as i went thru the corner a police van was coming the other way, he braked to a stop so i thought i could out run him before he turned round :p, scuttled in to an estated, parked up , looked in my R mirror and he was behind me  had a good talking on that one :p luckly for me i havent had any points from the above :)

Been stopped more times than the number of years I've been driving. Sometimes they're ok, other times you know they're just itching for any old excuse to make your evening miserable.

One lot were particularly bad, trying to get me to admit I had no insurance...

"Go on, tell us the truth, we know you're uninsured. Just tell us now so we can get it over with; we can keep you here all night - it'll be better on you in the long run."

Kept me sat in the back of a panda car for almost 45 minutes with that one. Power mad little tools - it was like listening to an episode of 'the professionals' only this time we had bonehead and foil instead. Reported the incident to the duty sgt. at my local station (without mentioning any names) next day and less than a week later was stopped by the same 2 coppers again, only this time they were ever so polite and conciliatory; seems like someone got a thick ear over the incident.

These days I wouldn't give your average traffic plod house room - mostly gung-ho young lads with something to prove. Most of the older guys I've had dealings with have been more matter of fact and professional.

Though since I no-longer drive a red car, I've not been stopped for quite a while. I have it on reliable authority that they play snooker with the cars when on traffic duty.

I got pulled tonight near West Thurrock by a Copper who did not like the way I went around a small roundabout, he could not quite grasp that 45ft long trailers require an unorthodox approach compared to that taken from behind the wheel of a car!

Donkey. :p

Around 3 times IIRC, once for doing 38.5 MPH in a 30 which due to the lovely lovely radar gun the bloke was holding I couldn't really argue with, although I'll never forget his face when after signalling a smoothed low fairly loud 306 coming towards him, seeing me sitting there in a suit and tie with my glasses on he sort of deflated a bit and went "Oh" :D

The other two were for my rear numberplate not being visible, my favourite roads round here are a bit filthy and had caked the entire rear end bar the screen :o

Twice in my car but only once i was driving.

First time my friend was driving my car back from a night out at around 2am and he said he thinks a police car is behind us so me and my other friend both looked round to see and straight away the blue lights were on. Friend got breathalised and was crapping over insurance as it was not his car but everything was fine and police were nice enough to us.

Second time i was driving back from girlfriends down a country road and looked in my mirror to see a car coming up quite fast. When it got close behind me his lights started flashing and i had no idea what i had done wrong. He came over to me and explained that a group of lads stole a car and had been on the run and he obviously lost them and that was that.

So not been pulled over for doing anything wrong yet nor got any points or crashes in 4 and a bit years driving *touch wood*

Stopped three times.

First time was outside my house...well actually I pulled onto my drive. Copper thought I was trying to get away from him and thought I pulled onto a random drive.

Second was in Wales at 4 in the morning. They thought the car was stolen and kept asking me where I was from. I was actually visiting a mate and was on my way back home.

Third was down the A5 at 11 at night, I actually deserved this one. I come flying round Muckley Corner island and off down towards Cannock at very fast speeds. What I didn't notice was the copper sat at the island, and it wasn't until 3-4 miles down the road that he caught up with me. I actually had a bad day that day and was taking my anger out, so I explained to him what had happened and that I'm really sorry. He told me to go back home and that he would follow me to make sure I did.

I've had my car searched when the windows were *cough* streamed up *cough*. But the coppers were cool with it tbh.

Whenever we have these threads I'm always left wondering how people manage to get pulled over for 'routine stops'. Are they really truely random? I suspect not - I suspect peoples driving style attracts attention from the police, who will then do a 'routine stop'.

I cant think of any other reason why I've not been pulled for a routine stop despite ticking all the boxes of things which should 'arouse interest' - driving around town at 2am giving a car full of mates a lift home from a club, looking young for my age and driving around in a 5 Series (And looking even younger with a modified Mondeo full of people) but each time not a peep out of the police.

So how do you guys manage it?

im sat here wondering the same thing fox :)

people look at me, aged 21 and think im 16-17 :( - still in 4.5 years driving not been pulled over!

Routine stop isn't an excuse unless they have a roadblock set up, they can't just pull cars over willy nilly if the PNC is green for that vehicle if you are driving legally.

I have been pulled three times. Once I got a HORTI as I had nothing on me. The third time I was on official duty, told the officer where to go due to his demenour and attitude and then asked to inspect his vehicle. :) Hehe

Let's count...

1. The time we were 7up in a 106.
2. The time when they had guns.
3. The time I drove the wrong way down a one-way street ( I was lost).
4. The time they made me ditch my stash.
5. The time when I was stone cold sober, but the other 3 weren't.
6. The time I raced the unmarked brass car.
7. The time I flipped the bird at the unmarked traffic car as he overtook me.

So that's 7 with only 1 producer and nothing else. More than I thought.

ive often wondered this

ive dived into side street when ive seen the police, hid my face from them and all sorts

but they never pay any attention

They say coppers have a nose for trouble, im beginning to think they might be right.

Hmm, dunno. I got pulled over driving at exactly 30mph with a friend in the car. Didnt even have a clue the car behind was unmarked. Couldnt have been going fast as I was in heavy traffic.

He pulled me because they were do routine checks on car number plates. Mine came back saying the car was Grey when its actually Black, so they pulled me. :(
