How much do you spend on food a week/month?

According to my recently updated spreadsheet, £28 a week for just myself. That's a minimum of 3300 calories per day and pretty balanced, little bit of fruit, plenty of vegetables. The portions are adequate without being excessive.

I currently make everything I eat myself, including pack lunch, snacks etc. I make my own hummus and use it as a dip for carrots and sometimes make my own bread.

Got hammered last night for £3 (whiskey for Christmas and generous friends) which is good because I am seriously poor :(

About £100 - £120 for me and my daughter (16) per week. We have takeaways and meals out too though so it seems a lot. She's a veggie but she eats fish. I seem to spend less when my other two daughters are here with us (13 & 11).

Quorn costs a lot more than meat :(

Buy in bulk, cook in bulk, freeze extra portions and mix+match through the week. Cereal + juice for breakfast, home made sandwiches for lunch, then a cooked home prepared meal in the evening. Have the occational biscuit/small inexpensive snack/fruit and drink a lot through the day. Most of my food I get from the market other bits from iceland/asda. Very easy to do on £15.

Well there is me, my wife and my 2 sons and we spend about £120 roughly on a months shop, but about £30 extra during the month for baby food...

I shop for myself and when required for the household (i.e. milk, loo roll, and other such communal things).

Per week I spend between £40-£60 from either Waitrose or Sainsbury's. Though usually I split it up and shop twice a week. Sometimes I go a bit wild and go over budget sometimes I feel a bit lazy and spend less as I'd buy less fresh meats/fish.

I eat a fair bit as part of my exercising regime, and I love cooking and food in general! :D

I don't buy alcohol as I don't drink, I make my own bread, so my costs are quite cut down really. I'm careful to spend money on good quality products such as fresh meat and fish - which is why I often shop twice a week.

£60-70 between 2 of us at the moment, usually around £30-40 for myself. Per week.

Thats a mix of some items being value where i dont feel it makes any difference, with decent meat's from the local farmer and decent quality products where it matters.

About £55 - £65 a week for me, missus and the cat.

We cook almost everything fresh though, buy free range chicken from butchers etc, but I think what we spend it quite reasonable.

when people are saying £150 a week ,do they mean on food or all shopping (like the weekly shop for household stuff cleaners, loo rolls and such),cause if you spend £150 on just food how much is your full shopping bill.
mine is £80 all in with household items me wife and son

About £50 a week on food for two of us and a seven year old.

Pretty much all fresh food, with lots of meat and veg. Tend to buy meat in larger quantities when it's on offer. Like on Friday picked up a couple of kilo's of pork shoulder for £8.

Doesn't include health and beauty products (GF buys them from Boots for her points) or my bodybuilding supps.

spend about 200-250 a month on grocery shopping, started boycotting the large stores as there veg etc tends to stay fresh for about 2 days...

i buy stuff from a farm shop in colchester and it stays fresh for weeks, whats up with that.

I don't know whether to be horrified at the amount I spend or how little others spend, it's like a crazy I'm more skinflint than you competition :)

personally I expect I pay about £50 a week just on myself. However I also boycott supermarkets and am willing to pay the extra for good quality meet from my local butcher, and nice veg from my grocers.

How can someone claim to buy all their food for £7 a week! seriously I can't believe you have 3 good meals a day for £1, unless you are growing your own veg in the allotment
