We are family of four. Me and my girl (both skinny and dont eat huge amounts - probably average) and two young children.
I live in the South East and this is shopping at Tesco. We used to go shopping every week and would spend about £80 - £100. Lately, we tend to not go until everything is ran right down about once every 1.5-2 weeks and my shopping bills are lately coming in at around £130-£150. This is with minor luxuries but the occasional expensive thing like razors or whatever. We don't really do little shops in between and don't go to boots or anything for health and buty. Its all in tesco.

I personally think we spend way too much and want to get it down to what it used to be, under a ton a week.

Have food prices gone up that much?

I was thinking that food prices have gone up recently.

I live with my gf and my cat. We budget and normally spend about £200 a month on everything of food and household and cat.

Supermarkets are manipulative and you need to watch out for their dirty tricks. Pre packed veg is a lot more expensive that the loose stuff even though they weigh the same. Branded stuff will take main shelf space and sometimes the supermarket's own cheaper alternative won't be available so you have to spend more. Sometimes smaller quantities of food aren't available and buy one, get one frees up the price of one item to compensate.

Damn you supermarkets!!

About £500-600 per month, mostly at Sainsbury in Sussex, for 2 adults, one 12 year old girl and a dog.

That's all household stuff and the odd Chinese takeaway. We try and get organic fresh stuff.

Me and my 3 housemates (i.e. four 19-20 year olds) go through about £80 a week of food at Morrison's. Majority of the stuff we buy is on special offer!

£30-40 a week tops, depends how many times I go shopping a week usually only once or twice. On average usually £15-20 per shop.

Just shopping for myself.

I eat a very strict diet and my food bill is £58 a week. Turkey and stewing steaks account for most of the expenditure.

2 adults, 1 2.5 year old and a kitten;

Roughly £60 a week. Some weeks it's in the 50's, some in the 70's. We don't buy value stuff, but we're careful as to what we buy (ie: we get what we need, generally). However, we don't always restrict ourselves, so stuff like pineapples, expensive ice creams etc, we'll get if we want.
