Imagine having a mindset where you interpret a pragmatic response to a question is "shilling hard"

Tell me, where exactly is the "shill"?

Are you for real? "Whatever price they put it will sell well, every sample" So regardless of price/performance or how many are actually available, that's the measurement?

Price point has to match performance point, AMD can't take a breakdown like my above musings and then slap an arbitrary premium on top because of scarcity. It just won't sell, especially with Zen 4 + AM5 coming in 6-9 months.

You've even gone against what he said in your own post, so I'm not sure what your issue is.

We all know where Gondar's biases lie, it's no secret. Go have a look at the guy's post history if you're convinced he doesn't shill for AMD.

what did i say wrong? Wanna bet that Zen3d cache will sell extremely well? And for AM4 users Zen3d is the cheapest option to get leadership performance, while with ADL you have to buy motherboard too, and cooler if current isn't compatible. There are many AM4 users so AMD just need to keep them from going to Intel and it will be good til Zen 4 comes.

My initial thoughts were along the lines of the XT pricing so 5800X launch price + $50 ($499) but I feel AMD may want to market it as premium product so I'm going with $549 (5800X + $100).
I'd say $550-600 will be in the ballpark as AMD know enough people will pay a large premium for gaming marketed products.

Half the people who buy 5950X/5900X now are just using them as gaming chips.

@Ayahuasca you need to chill your proverbials.

My thoughts on sales and his thoughts on sales are not mutually exclusive or contradictory. Just because I don't think the 5800X3D will sell if it's priced at stupid money does not preclude nor negate the pragmatic and history-supported stance that AMD will sell every unit they make.

Sorry if it's too complex to have two differing stances exist in your head at the same time.

@LePhuronn lol that’s a nice cop out. I think it’s you who needs to chill trying to step in for a known AMD shill :D

I have no doubt it will sell well if priced correctly but Gondar is pretending AMD can just charge what they want and it will be out of stock everywhere. That’s only ever happening if the supply is ridiculously low.

I dont know about any price but certainly everything is a retailers market these days and seeing as this would be the debut of 3d stacking they could be priced quite a bit higher than people are expecting - the 'Extreme Edition' of the AM4s almost. Then again, they may not. who knows?

I think around £500-£550. They'll market it as "close to 5900X multi-threaded performance due to IPC uplift" and then sell it at that price point.

Of course, if they do the whole "limited edition" crap then add another 40-50% onto that price.

I would say less than £500 probably £450. I wonder what the 12900KS will cost though? What premium did Intel charge for the 9900KS 1 year after the launch of the 9th gen series and what was the price of the K at the time of launch for the KS?

To all those wondering why i have dragged Intel into it, it is because the 5800X3D will actuall be competing with the 12900KS but at least wth AMD we get some new technology as opposed to a little extra Mhz

Intel (and the 12900ks) currently have the tech lead on their platform.
58003d is interesting and could (probably will) be an excellent choice for AM4 owners, especially those on 5600s and below but if you want the latest tech it’s intel now or wait for AM5.
