How much does your graphics card really cost?

It's easy to look at the headline cost of GPUs. But in another thread someone made an adverse comment about PC graphics cards in comparison to consoles so I did the sums and my Maxwell Titan X has cost me under £25 a month - and that's ignoring the resale or depreciated value.

So how much do your GPUs actually cost you over the long term?

I think trying to defend the current costs of pc hardware is a bit ridiculous. Sure you can look at it from an X a month perspective, but at the end of the day the costs have sky rocketed.

It wouldn't cost you 25 quid a month if crypto and memory shortages hadn't screwed everything up lol.

I bought 3 years ago - before the crypto boom.

RX 580 £299. Currently that works out as £299 a month....

:D

How long do you intend to keep the card? If you plan on keeping it 30 months - 2.5 years - it will have cost you £10 a month.

Good, because I'm not; what I am interested in is finding out how expensive they are over the longer term.

Sadly true.

580 8Gb, £299. Plan to keep until the generation after Navi maybe? So possibly 2020/2021.

Works out around £8.30 per month, less if I resell when I upgrade.

To be fair same could be said for a console, how much does the GPU in the console cost / however long you've had it :p

Lets be honest, a GPU ain't a lot of good without the rest of the system.

GTX 980 £400 in November 2014, less £20 for the free game i didnt want and came with £15 credit in a game i played a lot, so £365

so that is 40 - 41 months minimum, so around £9 a month. i would be more than happy to keep it for longer as well however the move to 4K TV has meant my irritating itch has suddenly become more like the one from a bad dose of thrush ;)
