How much does your graphics card really cost?

Is the £2700 example above not in a different market segment than the £827 was? Having choice is not a bad thing and being in the near 30 years I've been interested in computers there has never been a time where "low/mid" components have been so capable.

Prices have been squeezed up by mining and RAM pricing shenanigans, not to mention prediscounted Brexit pricing and dollar "adjustments" that only go one way...

Long and short of it is pay what you fancy, only you can derive value from a purchase.

NV can release new GPU stack on a whim, fastest v fastest generation is the benchmark.

Did you agree that original Titan was the precedent of the start of customer raping or did you say nowt wrong back then?

I did forecast that it would steamtrain the whole product stack, got ganged up on with the eliteist that thought they were better than the rest coz they had <£800 to spend on a GPU, they're not laughing now that they can't afford TV or even TXP, next time they won't even be able to afford 1080ti replacement./s

Edit: you think GPU pricing is fair, I think we are getting ripped a new one, that's fine, simply a differing opinion, you can bankroll them, bu I'm done with it unless they both return to normalised pricing.:)

It has been up and down, even the 1060 6gb was available around £220-240 a few months ago (I know as I bought several)

Yes prices over the last couple of months have been bonkers, but itsn't going to stay quite that way, but yes prices do tend to go up over time, i think its called inflation.

wrong not all prices go up over time'

why don't you look at the price of gaming consoles.

the ps4 when launched was cheaper than the ps1 when it launched iirc.

also console games back when they launched in the 90's and 00's are cheaper now today in the 10's. you can get a launch game today for 20-40 quid back then they could be 60

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't in-game transactions and DLC a lot more rife than they were in the 90's and 00's? Also, without looking at it, i would imagine volume of sales could be having an effect there too.

That might be your benchmark but I don't see how you can force it on anyone else.
No problem with that I've only had about 3 or 4 posts on the matter, but if you can enforce your own advice on yourself-you might want to accept other people have an opinion on what they regard an overinflated pp on today's GPU pricing even though you find it totally acceptable.:)

Thats not what I've been saying, certainly not in this thread, where people have misconstrued the OP I've attempted to clarify, I've not said anything along the lines of that being "the only benchmark".
The opposite infact.

Think everyone has more or less moved from op posts to current pricing which is being discussed.

Reads to me in this thread that you think pricings ok and you keep rubbishing anyone that disagrees, that's my take.

What I've been putting across in my few posts-pricing is berserk and its literally pushing people away from Pc gaming.

This thread was triggered by the £1000 1080ti pricing, no I don't think thats ok. I also don't think it constitutes a long term trend.
