How much for a bonnet respray?

Who cares what "most people" think? Is it your car or theirs?

I wouldn't do it myself because I don't think it would suit the MR2, but I'm just wondering why you care about what others think.
some people lack self-affirmation and need to be pandered to by others so they can feel some semblance of self worth.

Goodwin - do you also think my friend's camo porsche is 'crap-looking'? would you drive such a car?

I quite like the Rat look (it's growing on me and it's your fault) but then see things like this:

Which is what I immediately thought of when I imagined a nitromorsed bonnet on an otherwise immaculate MR2.
I like the Camo Porsche as the entire car was done very well and while being different, looks like a professional job rather than a half arsed attempt at looking similar to cars maintaining an age aquired look.

If I was driving a Nova with a stupid bodykit a baked bean can strapped to the back would people laugh at me? Of course they would, you see people mentioning it all the time.
I personally cannot think of why anyone would deliberately make themselves a target for that kind of humiliation, hence my not wanting to potentially ruin a nice looking car if I owned it.

Anyway, I'm detracting away from the OPs question now. Sorry R220!

I've never seen these rusted bonnets - I'm intrigued. The laquer on my bonnet has gone all peeley, and now looks nasty. :(

I've actually got a spare bonnet that's the wrong colour, so I may give this a go!

Where can I find more examples of these rusty bonnet cars? :D They look

205 shells are galvanised...are the bonnets?

if so, you could end up with a cool, dulled metal bonnet.

...if not, you'll end up with a nice rusty bonnet.

just splodge all over with nitromors, cover, wait, remove, win.

try not to scrub it or anything...keep the metal smooth...just fit it to the car and let wind, water, salt and the movement of the car through the air patinate the bonnet.

Thanks for the links, I'm looking thru 'em now. :)

I'm don't think the bonnets are galvanized, as some of the bits of my spare bonnet already have tiny rust patches, but then the bonnet is from a C plate. :)

EDIT: Found out for sure:

"Correct. All Peugeots after septemer 1987 (together with the introduction of the new dash) have a galvanized body and bodypanels.
The rusty 205's I've seen which were younger than 1988 had suffered major damage at some point and were badly repaired."

I'll pick up some nitromors in wilko tomorrow. I'm guessing a litre should be plenty for a bonnet shouldn't it?

Should be fine.

Mix any leftovers up with some crème de menthe for a hell of a cocktail.
