How much is your rent?

£795 a month.

4 bedroom detached house with integral garage with a south facing rear garden with a pond (with big koi) and decking :)

Moving in with mates in new year, 400 pcm all included for an average bedroom, everything else is shared.

Knaphill next to Woking in Surrey

It's about half the price of the places i was looking at for renting on my own.

240 for a double room. Water paid for.

Other bills are paid for by us Elec/Gas/Internet - Cometo about 20 a month for that. I love this house :D

Not the plushest of houses, but i share with 4 crazy lads and a girl, so we wanted something we wouldnt have to keep clean all the time lol.

It's a western styled apartment and that's about the going rate. Like anywhere it comes down to compromises as to where you want to live in the city so you can find cheaper if you want to be further out. Having said that in the 1 bedroom ranged we looked at apartments up to $6500/month. All pretty much the same size just a slightly varying location (and not by much).

if thats a more standard rate then im guessing the standard wages must be rather high so that people can afford to actually rent them.

£525 a month for a 2 Bed Mid Terrace

Leicester 10 mins walk from the city centre (and work).

It's a more standard rate for western styled apartments, for older Russian style apartments you pay less.

One thing to remember is that not many Russians rent as at collapse of the Soviet Union a lot of Russians were given their apartments by the state.

Also in terms of location this is pretty central (think Westminster) but you can have lots of babushkas who pay nothing to live there because of the state handover of property. Bills are nothing and council tax doesn't really exist.

The deal is I pay the rent, the GF pays the council tax, internet, water, gas, elec, Sky etc etc. I'm budgeting £900 a month for anywhere in North London Zone 5 and beyond.

Might not be totally fair.

We budgeted so that we both had the same money left after paying into the joint. Some small adjustments as we got used to it.

Don't rent myself but I know that the three bed semi next to me in a quiet clu-de-sac 5 mins from a tram stop is £525/month. That's in Nottingham.

I do know that there are two other identical houses in the street up for rent for £480 and £640 so ymmv.

650 a month (mortgage :D, sorry i cant read) for a 2 bed victorian mid-t and about 5 mins walk from the centre of town

£680 a month for a 3 bedroom semi in Norwich that may as well be made out of paper (incredibly thin walls). It's a student place though and the water rates are included, I pay £235 a month of that overall figure which is considered quite cheap for the area I think. Despite it being a semi most of the rooms are surprisingly big :)

Frick! Most of you, at least on page one, are paying more in rent than my mortgage per month for an entire flat overlooking the beach!

Why though? If you are still relatively young you only need to consider an interest only mortgage for a long term (30 years). Its not like you'll be living there forever. Better than setting fire to money and at least you're properly on the mortgage ladder.

Mortgage rates at the mo are crazy low even if LTV is high.

£1000 pcm for a city centre 3 bedroom triplex apartment in Manchester.

Shared between 3 of us, so £333 each pcm in reality.

3 bedroom terraced house - new built (less than 10yrs old) , own off street parking for two cars , nice backgarden, £430pm - Housing Association
