And how many people in your household?

We're a 2 person household and our DD is £52 a month. We've not got a meter so we pay the usual fixed rate, and despite the cost of living crisis, Thames Water has obviously lined the right pockets to prevent people from switching supplier.

Anyway, they've offered me a meter which they reckon "could save you money" (which is just corporate talk for "it'll most likely cost you more plus we'll be able to sell your usage profile to 3rd parties for that sweet sweet commission").

I'm tempted to look in to it now, if it could actually save a few quid then I see no reason not to do it tbh.

So, how much are you paying, who is your provider and how many peeps in your house? EDIT: Also where do you live?

Cheers!

dunno..get a £100-£150 bill notification every so often. Think its for 6 months...seems reasonable for 3 people.
Not sure how your paying £50 a month though...do you have a swimming pool?

2 adults, 2 kids (11 & 3). We have a meter, in Birmingham with Severn Trent - paying £38/month (this is possibly too high as up until 6 months ago I was running a reef tank and flushing many 100s of litres of water down the drain every week on water changes)

We got the meter installed in 2014, our bill for March 2013-2014 (unmetered) was £394, or ~£32.84/month
Our monthly DD on the 2015* metered bill was £19.84, so almost exactly 1/3rd less.

It varies hugely depending on region/provider.

My GF moved out for a year in 2017 and was paying £60/month for an unmetered 1 bed flat in Bath, compared to the ~£20/month I was paying for my 3 bed house...

* I've deliberately left a year gap because the metered bill for 2014-2015 will have been estimated due to no readings.

I have just had my water bill for the coming year and it's now £529

Have been toying with going on meter but wife is keen gardener and uses a lot.

The other thing is we have to run two bowls of water out to get rid of chemical smell every morning'

We have discussed how we can save water but that will include a few more water butt's and faffing around putting bowls of water out side into buckets.
Need to ask neighbours how much they pay.

They are all jumping on the screw them all bandwagon.

Cheers all, I've just emailed our managing agent to get the landlord's contact details, they might tell me to get stuffed but we'll see.

No meter and £40 a month on a estimated usage as they've (Anglian water) tried 6 times to fit a meter and cant find the pipe ....

Had this for a year, £600 bill later... So I'm currently paying £85 a month, although it should drop to 50 soon. 3 adults, 3 bed house.

£13 a month. Just me. Use washing machine 4-5 times a week and shower every day.

If your home doesn't have a water meter, it works out cheaper if you get a meter if there's less than 1.25 people per bedroom. If there are 6 people in a 4 bed home, stay on rates.

My meter is in a cluster of 6 at the corner of the pavement. Still don't know which of the 6 it is. All readings have been done by a Severn Trent meter reader.

Remember taking a final reading on the flat my ex and I shared. The meter was at the bottom of the path and needed to tie a plastic mug on a piece of rope to fish out the water which was resting above the meter. Meter hole was too narrow for putting my arm in. Got odd looks - obviously never read their meter themselves. The water companies make things difficult.
