How much memory

Hey dudes, I'm currently replacing my old gaming rig, it's served me well but the fans are all packing up and the GFX card is overheating and crashing

How much system memory is the norm these days ? I don't want to pay for loads of Bg I won't need, but neither do I want to have to crack open the case in 2 years to add more memory.

So....is the standard 16 or 32 these days ?

Not sure this is the right section for your question however IMHO 8 GB used to be the standard but in general I am reading more comments saying that 16GB should now be considered the standard. If you want to cover yourself for the next few years then 16GB makes more sense than 8.

/Edit: Beaten to it :)

No reason to not get 2x8gb (or 4x4gb if X99), regardless of DDR4 or DDR3 now, it's cheap enough.

Leaves it open for 32gb in the future if Chrome decides munching 4gb of RAM isn't adequate.

I would go 16GB these days, FC4 is using about 75% of my 8GB RAM, seriously thinking of getting another pair of 4GB Hyper-X Savage modules while they are cheap.
