How much money do you spend at and getting to work?

My commute is two parts, tram and train

Tram is £11/week for unlimited travel, (I could get this cheaper but this is buying a weekly ticket which is the most convenient for me)
Train is £320/year, but this was paid for by work due to office relocation.

Lunches etc .... well I try to take in a packed lunch but i can be a bit lazy ... I would say £10-15 a week as I normally take £30 out to cover the week (including the tram ticket) and I normally have cash left over.

At my old work we were right near Reading town centre with lots of options for lunch and then I would average £10 day for lunch

I'm quite lucky in that my place of work (Post Office) is a two minute walk from my house, so no travel fees at all. Plus I get to come home at lunch time to make whatever I want and see whats happening on the news. Lunchtime news (12 o'clock) on Channel 4 is great, by the way, the guy who interviews people is so blunt and to the point.

If I was to find another job in the city, I'd need more than 50p an hour more to cover the loss I would be making on travel and lunch alone.

Lets see,

Fuel for car 30 quid a week
Parking 6.70 a day x 5 = 33.50
Food and drinks in work 5 a day = 25
B&B 108 for the week.

so about 186.50 a week ish, give or take a few pints at lunch :)

Bit pricey now i look at it that way lol, then again, working in IT i do get paid a little more than i spend :)

<C>

About £5 in fuel, and I when im on earlies ill occasionally buy an bacon and egg roll when the food van comes round, thats about it.. and ill occasionally get something to pick at from ASDA or from the NSPCC chocolate box thingy..

A ten minute walk = Free.
As for food...it can vary but normally no more than £3 a day.

:)

same as me. before i moved it was around £50 a week on petrol as i was commuting from leicester to nottingham. as a side note, my gf works in north notts, a bus and tram ride away. if she bought a day pass it would cost around £3.50 per day, but she gets a 28 ticket/card thing that costs £28 - saves loads of cash and hassle.

I pay absolutly nothing getting to work as i only live a 15 minute walk away :D

and probably spend about a tenner a week on lunch, nipping to waitrose and gettin some fresh rolls and nice ham from the deli counter *yummy*

Train, £10.10 a day into Manchester (no concessions).

Morning gregs - 50p sausage roll

Bottle of coke + chocolate - £1.50

Mother makes my lunch

So £12.10 a day

£60.50 a week

two months ago maidstone to moregate journey time 1hour 52 mins door to door with good running longest journey time 5 and a half hours

train monthly = £262 plus zones 1&2 tube £92 plus £3.50 parking at the station and £20 a week petrol to and from the station.... total £444

now total ride time door to door 48 mins longest journey 1hour 15 mins ( stopped for an ice cream!)

motorbike ( cost £4120 )
tax ( per 6 months £36)
parking free
congestion charge free
petrol £80 per month
grin factor of blowing away almost everything o n the road up to 150mph priceless :D :D

I cycle to and from work, I do a 5-1 shift every day so..

Nothing on transport

Breakfast I spend £1.15 on two Muller fruit corners and a can of coke.
I finish work at 1pm so I don't need to buy lunch at work.

About £20 a week which covers my tube and DLR travel to my office in the Docklands. If anything its lunch that costs me a bomb, food here in the Docklands is quite expensive.

Having just finished Uni I started my first full time job last week and I have to say I'm finding it an expensive business! A day ticket on the bus costs me £3.50 then at dinner I need to buy something to eat and a drink so that's about another £3.50. If you tot it all up that's about £35 a week which when your only just starting working and not earning a great deal and waiting for that first pay packet that's a fair chunk!

Anyway just thought I would ask what the rest of you spend out of curiosity. :p

make your lunch at home and take it with you, and look into the possibility of week or month bus ticket.

Cycle to work = free
Lunch @ home = pennies

If I spent what some people do on here I would be sick, not to mention broke, or at least have almost nothing to spend on shiny stuff.
