How much of a beating can a liver take?

You are right. However there's been no record of death by water(drinking). They reckon most people would have to drink around 10 litres within a hour to suffer this. However drinking less than this can flush out salts. One of the tell tails signs of a to low salt diet is cramps, especially in women.

There was the case of Leah Betts, she died from water intoxication after drinking too much water following taking an Extacy tablet.

You are supposed to keep hydrated...which some people interpret as drink a shizzleload of water til you die.

So is telling people to avoid drinking water as you get dehydrated extremely quickly when on amphetamines, especially since you are usually dancing.

Some people just don't understand common sense.

No, the advice should be to keep hydrated, but they also need to tell you the risks of drinking to much.

Surely the advice is to not take them in the first place :/

But people will so there should also be advice on how to stay safe if you do take them.

Just like under age people should have sex. But if they do they should have easy & confidential access to information and all kinds of protection.

I agree on the whole information thing. People are going to take drugs, we need them to be educated regarding the risks and dos/don'ts.....

I actually made a drug information website for my highschool senior project in 2002. It was basically a compilation of some information from lycaeum.org, bluelight.nu, dancesafe.com, erowid.org...and a bit of personal experience thrown in.

The judges were not very enthusiastic about the topic of my presentation but gave me a decent mark anyway because it was done well. I have always been against fear tactics and lying to keep youngsters away from things.

i read a story before about a woman in america i think who entered one of they last one touching the car wins it. apparently they had to drink a few liters of water before it started.

one of the woman ended up dying because of too much water made the inside of her head swell up or something.

sorry cant find a link to the story.

I drink the same as the OP and feel fine, rarely get a hang over etc etc.

I dont consider drinking 2 nights a week to be out of the ordinary.

He buys a 1 litre bottle every day without fail and he is the only one who drinks it. He doesn't average 2 bottles a day. He drinks one every day and occasionaly he will drink 2 or 3 in a day which results in another trip to the hospital. This happens about once a month.

How does he afford it? The government give him a disability allowance because he is an alcoholic, much to my anger. He gets a flat and all the associated bills paid for him and on top of that he gets just short of £1000 a month to spend on booze. It's a disgrace.

at even a litre a day he is drinking more than the body can get rid of

13.5 units build up everyday so after 3 days he would have the equivalent of if he had just downed a litre in his system, this simply isnt possible he would have died within 2 months of drinking a litre a day

if hes drinking a bottle then it balances out because it has less units

hes likely to be drinking a litre every 2 days - thats plausible at least, for him to be even possible to drink 3 litres he must have to down them pretty quickly because i doubt he can even talk after 1.5 litres

even if your body build up a tolerance, the tolerance can only go so far, for example

if you drink a bottle everyday no matter what your tolerance would be the same if your drank 1.5 litres a day

the bigger and fatter you are the more you can tolerate, its not about how much you drink, although that does play a part if your a heavy drinker

unless your uncle is severely overweight i doubt he drinks a litre every single day because he would have to take a rest at least once a week for the body to lose the alcohol thats always building up

He's far from overweight, he looks like a ghost.

He buys a litre bottle every single day without fail. Every day. I know that for a fact. He's a loner, therefore has it all to himself and you can be damn sure he doesn't throw it down the sink either.

I don't watch him finish off every bottle but I cannot possibly see where it would go apart from into him. Alcoholics don't throw drink away. The only possible explanation, if in fact your "science" is true is that he may vomit some of it up.

I'm not going to argue about this. I know he drinks a litre every day and no amount of scientific babble is going to change my mind, because I know otherwise!

yeah he would definetely be throwing up, simply because his body cant hold any more alcohol in its system, the stomach would simply reject it, thats the only way you could drink a litre everyday without stopping for a break at least once every 3-4 days
