Ive been getting sloshed every Friday and Saturday for about the past two years. Takes about 8 beers to get me sloshed. I'm not dead, so how much does it take?

If its a regular thing then it's possible that your liver will build up a tolerance to it, although it will vary from person to person and based on a ton of other factors.

My alcoholic uncle has drank between 1 and 3 litres of vodka a day, every day, for the past 20 odd years and he's still alive - just. He's quite yellow and is probably going to die soon.

But if he's still alive then the liver can take a hell of a beating.

nah you've got years left in it probbably manage a decade of that behavior before it started showing (not that it wont do damage just till you notice it).

you will become an alcoholic before you get any real problems (i imagine), which would take more than 2 nights a week drinking, when you drinking in the morning thats when you should cut down.

Why take the chance? The average age of people presenting with cirrhosis of the liver has come down dramatically in the past 10 years. If you can still have fun on less beer in a night then that is the way forward, I reckon the damage is done when you "load" the system, so if you can drink slower that might help too.

The human body's organs are pretty remarkable in their resilience. Your liver, for example will still continue to function more or less ok even if much of it is screwed. By the time you actually start showing any symptoms, you should know that your liver will be in a pretty bad state. I.e. by the time you start to hurt, it might be a bit late, and you might feel 100% now, but your liver might not be 100%. So best not to push it, eh :)

If you have to ask then it's better not to drink at all. Your going to damage your liver to some degree if you binge drink every weekend, especially if your younger. That's why i choose not to touch the stuff. Anyone that can drink 8 beers one after another is just mad in my opinion, i rather drink 8 bottles of water.
