How much Storage is in your HTPC?

Are you RAIDing at all or just going for the maximum amount of space?

Maximum space.

I watch more movies having them ready accessible on MY HTPC were I can just browse genre, director, actor, year etc.. than getting up picking a DVD of the shelf and putting it in the drive.

Also DVD's look naff on shelves taking up space IMO. Collecting dust etc..

The beauty of having them on HTPC is they can be accessed over the network to any room in the house. Sweet

CBA with Raid.

As others have said I have movies already on disk DVD. And the cost of a Raid controller against ripping them again makes it not worth it.

The important stuff like captured DV family footage, photos' ect are stored on a about 4 different PC's....

One at my brother in laws.

My work PC

Laptop

etc...

The WD Greens are a really nice drive and I intend to get more.

ONly thing I have installed on my HTPC is my APC UPS.

I know you can't say where, but are you getting the WD drives brand new at 60 quid a pop?

In the states you can get the Samsung 1TB drives (which have really great reviews and which I have 3 of) for about 60 pounds :)

I'm going to have to get another HTPC set up with more room at this rate :p

HTPC? Only 80gb. Thats all it needs.

The Mediaserver however - 6x1.5tb WD Green drives and an 80gb IDE drive for the OS. Has space for another 2 drives then it's full. Tempted to fo for 2x2tb drives to finish it off. OS wise - it's Just running Server 2003. Couldn't be bothered with anything else on it.

Holds mainly music in FLAC. No backups needed as I have the original CD's as backups. Does have a few DVD ISO's on there too. Just the main movie stripped of any extras - generally around 4-6gb each - again, original disks are the backups.
