How Nvidia blacklists sites like Hardware Secrets

I am not having a go mate, i am interested in peoples logic behind this absolute hatred of Nvidia, but then tollerating other companies that have had equal shady pasts.

Are AMD judged as ok to have as a CPU or do they have something dark in their past?

Can you understand why i question the logic of hating a gfx card manufacturer but then accepting it as ok from other companies

Fair enough about O/S, there is nothing else really.

Hatred is a strong word to use i think it is more a case of dislike and it is mainly aimed at nvidia i think because they have not only got caught doing some dodgy business practices but doing things that clearly affect user's such as the disabling thing if you have an ati card and an nvidia one. Intel, ms et al all pursue their business aims relentlessly but rarely do they act so badly to end user's that they warrant disliking to the same degree as nvidia right now. I also think it doesn't help nvidia having such a complete prat for a ceo and he demonstrates it so often and openly rather then most who realise they are idiots on the public stage and retire back to the office steve ballmer of course excepted :). Next cpu will be an amd i hope this one i have now was the first intel one i have had since a pentium 2 and got a damn good deal on it which at the time was important as i had little money to do my upgrade.

You telling me amd/ati have acted just the same as nvidia in the past 3 years?

Always one, read what i have said.

I will say it again.

Nvidia get a hard time(and rightly so for some things). But people seem to get on the moral high horse saying how they would never buy Nvidia etc because of this(Again fair enough). But this is what i find strange, the then have other components or items that are from companys with as dodgy practice backgrounds. So the point is, is it just a gfx card thing that these morals come in to play?

For some gamers the question of who designed their GPU is an emotive subject, much as car enthusiasts often display loyalty to just one manufacturers vehicles.

Other components are less likely to elicit these feelings of "loyalty", misplaced though they may be.

As some people have said, with NVidia, it's the fact that their practices have *directly* hurt some of their potential customers. For example, all those people who wanted to use a NVidia card for physx when they have an ATI card.

Thanks for that, i can see what you are saying and it makes sense. I just guess i find it odd for anyone to have feelings that way for either saide.

Funny how hawx and farcy 2 have become a couple of the most popular games to bench lately....the fact they run exceptionally well on nivdia hardware has got nothing to do with it of course lol.

FC2 doesn't seem that strange to me (hyped shooter with dx10 support), I guess HAWX does the rounds because there are so few modern flight sims, although I agree it is a little strange to see it used so much.

How about Lost Planet, that always struck me as a bit of a strange game to see benched so much, I suppose it just got in on the basis of being one of the very first DX10 games.

What sites would you say produce the best reviews?

Personally I've already rated Anandtech, been around a very long time, not afraid to delve into the finer details and usually a decent writing style.

I also visit Firingsquad a lot (due to their good blend of gaming and hardware) but I'm never 100% convinced how well they check their data as you do see strange anomolies from time-to-time.

The likes of HardOCP I gave up on around 5 years ago once they started doing all those 'apples-to-oranges' benchmarks, exacerbated by their usage of 'running around with FRAPS' over consistent benching.

Also Tom's Hardware Guide is pretty famous but lost all crediblility for me years ago (Tom's Hardware Bribe fiasco etc).

I'm surprised that FSX isn't used - IMO its one of the most demanding games out there at the moment despite the fact it was released close to 4 years ago!

I work in the games business and the thing that narks me off hearing about expensive video cards is that people spend hundreds of pounds on a card to pay the latest games...yet pirate the games since they don't want to part with the cash!
Ah, I'm off to bed!

you probably just making crap games.

Yeah i don't pirate games but i take time to choose the few i bother to buy and usually wait till they hit the bargain bin that way i am not too peed off if i buy a piece of rubbish of which there are many out. Piracy is the scapegoat for so much as far as i am concerned companys make lousy products and blame it on pirates. I am not brand loyal in the least and prior to the last two gfx cards always had nvidia but the way they clearly show contempt for us the paying public doesn't make me want to buy their hardware and pay them off for that treatment, if it changes so will i but right now they will not get my money.
