How often do you format

01 November 2005 was the last format of XP Pro. I desperately need to format but a few months ago XP said I had a illegal copy of Windows and am not prepared to spend £100 to buy what I paid for already.

Google is your friend on this one. WGA is optional and not enforced.
 
I used to format every month or so... mainly because I ****** the install up.

Now, I can go a whole year without needing a format. I tend not to install any old rubbish and keep the system well maintained. Definitely notice a performance increase after a registry clean though.
 
my last format was 27th June 2006 this was when i tried out the first beta of Windows Vista and realised how poor it was next time i will format will probably if i decide to upgrade to vista. prior to that my previous installation before then was on October 27th 2003

Server 2003 Ent SP2 Beta, normally reformat every 3 months, but this month, IE7/WMP11/SP2 beta all came out so made a new nLite CD and did my fresh install with all the new stuff.
will format again when sp2 is final.
 
10th Febuary since my last reformat, dont understand why some people feel the need to do it every few months just for the sake of it :confused:

I say if it aint broke, dont fix it :D

Why on earth are you formatting a server every 3 months?

Format all the time, not always the same harddrive, and diffrent OS's.

On minute ill have Ubuntu install, then Fedora, then NetBSD, then Win2k3 EE, then WinXP x64... And I format the Windows XP Pro disk quite often too, about every 2 months or so.

Things just die on me, too muhc tinkering.
 
Whenever I need to.

Reformatted my laptop twice this week. First one was because I had tryed out Vista RC2 on it and found it horifically slow, and one of my foobar2000 plugins wasn't working. Second reformat was because after the first time, XP had made its partition an extended partition, don't ask why but I'm stupidly picky and wanted it to be a primary partition. By doing so, Partition Magic broke it, and neither fixboot or fixmbr would fix it, so anothe reformat was neccessary.

i format every 3months because it makes me feel like my pc runs better !!

When it needs it due to unresolvable error, and if you look after the os you don't need to that often. Only other time is during big upgrades i.e. motherboard.
