To cut a long story short, me and the GF were watching the film the "break up" last night:rolleyes:, anyhoo, the bloke is about 27 or so, and plays video games throughout the film. Prompting my GF to say, "I hope your not still playing silly games when your older" (I'm currently 20)

Now I will always play games, albiet less than I used too, I also know that many OCUK'ers are 40+ in the console section

So how old are you, do you still play games, and can you forsee an age when you will hang up your joystick:)

I'll play game until body body can no longer to do or I die. I'm 33, so about this time next year then :/

Edit: I'm sure I never wrote that ^^

It was emant to say "I'll play games until my body can no longer do it or I die. I'm 33, so about this time next year then :/"

Maybe it's a sign!

Was just thinking this last night, but in some sense playing a good game is like watching a good movie, as long as you don't let it make you become anti-social. Games aren't yet as socially acceptable by the average Joe or Jo and probably do appear a bit juvenile until you bring in examples from the ds and wii etc and point out that the same can be said of a lot of film & book media.

From to a quick google search (not sure when this article was written) the average UK gamer in one article is / was aged 28 - source. I think a recent 1upshow had it at around 35 (not just UK).

You're only too old when you feel it.

I'm 27 and don't feel it, thats all i know :)

As for what's a "sensible" gaming age, if you get old, and wanna game, grow your hair, grow a beard, put weight on, and play WoW :)

I wont stop playing games at any age unless i lose interest or whatever. It would be silly to reach a certain age and decide to stop playing games lol.

Should have replied "I'll give up gaming when you give up wearing clothes"

I'm 23 and don't see myself giving up gaming at any point, unless for some reason I got bored of it myself. I'm sure my gaming time will change as I get older, but hopefully i'll always find a bit of spare time to keep playing.
My Mum's playing Zelda on the wii as I type this and she's 52.
No way is any boyfriend going to make me give up gaming all together, especially not with an attitude like your GF seems to be demonstrating :p I figure it's like any other hobby, all about balancing your interests :)

How old is too old to watch movies? How old is too old to listen to music?

Gaming is just another form of entertainment.

I'm 32 and I play games and always will till I die. What else is there? Reality trash on TV to 'engage' your mind, or a good old session of gaming to stimulate yourself. Anyone tells me to stop gaming will get a casual "GTFO" thrown at them.

Give her a slap. Gaming is going to pervade our society young or old in the not too-distant future as technology advances.

/endthread.
