How safe are those WW2 planes really?

Would you ride as a passenger in a P-51? Flown by an amateur owner? I have the opportunity to fly in one (for $1600) and i'm really tempted but looking on google and youtube they seem to crash a lot.

That's a life existence right there. I'd have to chance it myself. What's that worst that can happen...?

I'd be more wary of a 70+ Year old pilot than a 70+ Year old plane, those things seem to get owned and flown by rich retired coffin dodgers...

Well if it's still flying after 60+ years it must be bloody well made. I'd chance it

People aren't going to be posting videos of these flying safely - they would be too boring. As doofer pointed out, these things are kept airworthy as a labour of love and will be just as safe as anything else you would fly in.

Its a bucket list entry if ever there was one. Go for it.

I don't know what you're waiting for. Life's too short to miss out on things like this so do it!
