How safe you think this shelf is?

The fact the two right brackets are into a stud, I wouldn't lose any sleep. I definitely wouldn't be putting heavy books on it tho - just too much to go wrong, especially when tiredness and pace kicks in and they getting thrown up there a bit lazily/on the leading edge.

Yeah that’s sort of what I’m thinking. The stud is solid, there are four fixings into studs…I’m more worried that the gripits might fail!

Floor standing bookshelf required anyway.

They’re secured to the stud with the Gripits

Can you guys stop talking in code and tell me what I should have done?
These fixings?

How are they secure to a stud? Do they go through it and out the back of the metal?

They're designed for plasterboards though, and that's probably why you have movement, although I've not tried it before to know

Yeah look at the photo, the gripit will have enough length to grip the board, by adding the stud in between you're going to push out the gripit surely?

That would have been fine, but the stupid brackets needed you to have a screw sticking out to mount them. I think those types of fixings really need you to screw through something to keep them secure.
I'd get better, longer brackets suited to the job. The last thing you want is that failing, even if it has light things on it, surely you don't want to risk any of it falling on your child/family

could countersink the toggle bolt bolt in the bracket (but how do you avoid dropping the spring if you wanted to change it) ..
you didn't put the toggles(strongest fixing) at the tops of the bracket though - where the force/moment is greatest.
