How this possible?

No, they can't, a stop is put on that number. It is why a new card has the last 4 digits changed.

Many of my cancelled cards have resulted in subscriptions failing, and them applying for new details.

Actually, they can if they got an authorisation code before the card was cancelled. There are ways to make transactions go through on cancelled cards, but it's not really sensible to talk about them on an open internet forum ;).

OP - you should have contacted the fraud department of your bank if you were concerned about this company. Did you not mention the reason you wanted to cancel the card when you called? Get in touch with your bank, hopefully they can still do a chargeback.

They may not give you an authorisation code but in the OPs case threy probably had the code and the case of something like the AA it would be continuous authority.

The bank could still choose to reject the charge, but it wouldn't be declined as such because no authorisation would be needed.

I advise you to firstly close your bank account to stop any further fraud, then phone the home office and ask to speak to the anti fraud department. They will reverse the transaction.

so what your saying is your upset that you'e be charged for goods that you've recieved(and ordered) not your best day.

alright they were a bit slow to send out the order, but take it on the chin and sell the other tent or take it back to Argos.

can you do charge backs on debit cards, I thought it was only for fraudulant activity.
oh! always use a credit card when ordering on the internet

In AD 2009

What happen?
Somebody set up us the bank

Main card turn off
How are you guest2? All your money are belong to us.
What!?
You have no chance to cancel, make your overdraft.
Hahaha
Move account!
For great fraud, report every card as lost!

+x points, where x is a number of Vonhelmet's choice.

Did you not in the end get 1 tent from them and 1 tent you bought?

Then decided since they were slow you were gonna keep their tent, sell it and get your debit card canceled so you cant be charged.

Easier thing would have been to send them their tent back instead of trying to sell it, getting a refund and keeping your debit card the way it was :)

If im wrong... i dont care, i cant be bothered finding your old thread lol
