I didn't get a mobile until I was around thirteen/fourteen, my ten year old nephew has one, albeit basic and just calls/texts. Another nephew (nine) wants an 'Nexxus S' (Least it's not an iPhone!)

It's just them spouting off day dreams, rather than seriously asking for them, they know no one is going to buy them in my case.

Perhaps football trainers and a ball combo, at a stretch maybe a football shirt, but even those push it a fair bit. Similar aged nephew of mine is heavily into Gormiti's, which from what I can gather, are tiny little monster things that play in big playsets.
