hi guys
my little sister keeps going on torrent websites and downloading music and films using Utorrents i am the one in my house paying for the internet and mum/dad will not help and says she has to be able to connect to the internet.... i dont want to get the blame if she gets told off and get my pc removed from me then i think i may go down for murder..... also i use utorrent for patching games and sharing larges files like home videos with freinds so i only want to block it on her laptop

for my router we are both on a wi-fi network running of the stock O2 router :(

disable UPnP port-forwarding, manually port-forward a random port for Torrenting and don't tell your sister what it is. that way you should be able to torrent and she not.

you'd have to manually port-forward everything else as well though.

wonder who the parents will blame when the lawyers letters arrive through the door :)

If the parents have any brains they'll tell the pay up scam where to go (although ACS seems to be going down the pan already :D)

You can't block torrents.

If one port is port to a computer it can use it for anything, hence the internet is one big free-for-all.

point the parents to this thread http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18165758&highlight=ministry+sound and tell them she needs to stop the torrenting now or you wont let her use your internet.

thanks mate i have tryed this... showing them what have happend to people downloading but they say "she will be the one told off"... i have said thats not ture i would just stop the internet but i am the only one that uses it a lot my sister use it for msn and torrents....

I have an idea , Post a letter to your home , listing torrents that have been downloaded, and when , and say 1st strike !!! It would be a tad mean , but it will highlight the errors of your teenage adolesent sisters ways, and will be funny at a christmas party sometime in the future

And parents respond far better to postal warnings than any thread

Just remember to write it to "The Ocupant, Your address" and be vague but accurate, and use a nice ISP header

Just know im not advocting this plan , might get you in trouble etc etc, but it will work , just might get messy if executed wrong
